Again... Short term GWS

Long term west coast.

GWS are in a rebuild, but they will make finals or at worst contend in finals in 2 seasons.

West coast eagles are in for a long rebuild.

Eagles won't beat the crows in Adelaide next week. The round 14 bye can't come quickly enough.

Only 2 games I see eagles possibly winning from now until the end of the season.

One is the tigers in round 18 and north in round 20. Both are in Western Australia.

GWS seem to have rebuilt quickly, while West Coast are just beginning a long rebuild.

well it depends on the situation...

Eagles have had 2 or 3 rebuilds in their history.

the 1st one was 2000-01. This was after their period of making finals from 1990-99. Most of those Premership players in that 1992 and 1994 side are retired or near the end.

Eagles then made finals from 2002-07, Including grand finals in 2005-6. with some of those 1990s eagles players with finals expereince.

The 2nd reuild was 2008-10. They needed this one. They were bringing in 5 or 6 kids in the draft every year. They did make finals in 2011-12. This was off the back of the veterans of the 2005-6 grand final side that had Darren Glass, Quentin Lynch, Andrew Embley, Daniel Kerr and Dean Cox as the experienced core.

Their 3rd rebuild was 2013-4. I wouldnt really call it a massive rebuild, more like a plug and fill some holes to go and contend for finals again. This lead to finals in 2015-20. This also included grand finals in 2015 and 2018.

eagles finished 9th in 2021, 17th in 2022. they look like they will finish bottom 4 in 2023.

More than a rebuild they needed a fresh voice

GWS seems ok at the moment.

They dont need a massive 5 or 6 year rebuild like freo did in 2016-21.

People Bag out GWS for having a lot of picks when they started. They needed 1st rounders to draft kids and occasionally trade them.

Yes GWS had Some of their players traded back to Victoria. But GWS still remained competitive.

If You want to look on how Healthy the GWS list is age wise, Look at the Giants last finals win in 2021.

Out of those 23 players that played in that 2021 elim final for GWS, there was like 4 blokes aged 31 or over. But there was like 9 or 10 players aged between 19 to 24 years old.

It wasnt an old list.
