I take it no one really wants to see Hawthorn get the spoon, so I'll leave the choice down to two.

Who would you prefer get the spoon. Collingwood or Carlton?

For me it's Carlton. I despise both, obviously, but Collingwood are not the hated club they were 30 years ago, in my opinion. Hated, yes, but not as much. There's just something "different" about them. Over the last 25 years or so, we've always had more important games against the Blues, what with the 16 flags and all, so for me, the choice is Carlton.

Which will make it all the more hard to bear when we most likely lose to them this week.

Collingwood getting the spoon would mean we lost to Carlton (for the 3rd time this season if you include the wiz cup) and let them off the hook. So Carlton for me.

I'm not talking about it in that sense. Simply, who would you rather win it, all things being equal?

I'd find it hard to split them then. At the moment maybe Collingwood because it would make Eddie and his Lexus centre look a real laugh. Much better target with their bigger media presence.

I also have a bit of respect for Carlton that i don't at all for Collingwood.

I don't see either of them getting the spoon as making up for past defeats to them FWIW.

Collingwood, on the pure supporters basis, the Carlton supporters are suffering anyway that Pagan has struggled, Collingwood supporters still actually believed up until 6 weeks ago that they were a chance this year. The spoon would be a fitting way to truly rub it into Eddie and his drones.

Probably carlton. Just to prove what an overrated coach pagan actually is and for a laugh about how their fans crapped on about winning that plastic cup earlier this year.

I don't want either to. One season of embarassment is more than made up for with the top picks and priority picks they will get. I am barracking as hard as I can for Collingwood to win 1 more game.

Carlton to finish bottom, then Collingwood. Both to qualify for priority picks but then stripped of their first round picks for salary cap rorting. That would be nice.

It would be in Essendon's best interests for Carlton to win this week. We are punished by going from picks 1 and 4 to pick 5 only while you would consign the Pies to the spoon. In doing so, you would also boost your own first round pick one spot. Win/Win.

I hope this doesn't come back to bite me but...
Collingwood aren't the club who have done dodgy salary cap cheating in the past, try your own backyard!

The other reason (purely numerical) I would like to see Carlton get it, is because of the premiership/wooden spoon ratio.

Carlton 16:1 plus 15
Collingwood : 14:2 plus 12
Essendon 16:4 plus 12

We are equal with Collingwood, but Carlton are a bit too far ahead, and we need to reel that "plus 15" back a little.

I actually want Hawthorn to get it. I hate them more than Collingwood or Carlton if that is possible. Probably growing up in the 80s accounts for it but I just despise them.

Premiership spoon ratio is pointless. We won our last one in a 12 team comp. Never in a 16 team comp.

Yeah, but premierships were won in a 12 team comp too. The spoons and premierships are all there, a part of history, irrespective of when they were won, and how many teams were playing. Nice to see it even up a bit, even if they're only numbers.

Well, barring a miracle, it looks like the Blues will get it. Yay!

I hope you all realise, how spoilt we've been these last 6 years (1999-2005)

Two Carlton wooden spoons
One Collingwood wooden spoon, and two GF losses.
An Essendon premiership.

Denis Pagan D26, give me your updated thoughts on the Super Coach.

Ah you love doing this don't you! Just waiting for the right opportunity to validate how coaches are overrated, obviously waiting until a wooden spoon is confirmed before maing the statement! Well done.

He is obviously a great coach with the runs on the board, but surely even Vince Lombardi couldn't turn the Blues around at the moment. I must admit I thought he'd do more with their average list, given his prior record at all levels (which thankfully didn't happen), but there is no question the guy can coach.

What happened to your prediction of the Bombers getting rolled, by the way? ;)

Hey, I can admit I was wrong, will you admit to going OTT on Pagan ? You are only as good as the cattle at your dispoal.

Okay it was over the top.

A good coach can still make some difference though. Perhaps Pagan wasn't a good fit for Carlton? He thought he had the midas touch a'la Blight at St.Kilda. Sheeds, for instance, was a perfect fit for Essendon when he came to the club, and maybe if he left, he wouldn't be the right fit elsewhere.
