You honestly believe Murphy will get a crack before Scharenberg?

Dude hasn't played senior football in 18 months.

Yes, if he has a full preseason, I think he will overtake Shaz in the pecking order. Selection over the last 3 years suggests to me that the coaches don't rate Shaz anywhere near as highly as this board rates Shaz. Plus I get the impression that the coaches rate Murphy very highly.

Murphy’s 3rd season and last was a write off with injury. Gets a full pre season in and he should be ready to stake a claim. It’s time for him. Both he and Shaz will be aiming at early season senior games and will be rivals for similar spots. Won’t surprise to see either of them in the team.
That may be true, but first right of refusal you'd have to think will go to Scharenberg.

I thought that this season coming up is Murphy's 3rd.

So was there training today?
I think the post you've quoted may have just been missing a comma, or perhaps a word or two, but I'm sure it was meant to suggest that this is Murphy's 3rd season, and that the last (2nd) one was ruined by injury!

January 21st. Pre-season training.

Players not seen or absent: Beams, Varcoe, Langdon, Appleby (I didn't notice him)
Players on the ground rehab: Greenwood, Dunn and Stevo

Onlookers came to watch, probably helps the AO was on as it gives people something to do before they go over. I don't think everyone who attended knew there was training, just happened by lol

Went straight from warming up, to match sim. Then followed by piling into groups and doing a handball game, then lastly groundball rotation.

My favourite play of the day was mark from Bianco at half-back, to Lynch taking a mark in the centre, to kicking it to Jamie Elliott in the forward line, GOAL.

There is going to be some competition come round 1 selection. Some spots open up.

Lynch's marking in the forward line is getting better and better.

Darcy Cameron, what a pair of hands he has. Did some impressive stuff.

About 6 VFL boys still training with us.

Stevo still doing running laps on the boundary as he talks to the medicos. Greenwood working with a trainer, and toward the end of the session I saw him doing zig zagging through the lines.

I have some videos I will post once they are uploaded.

How is Dunn looking? When's the deadline for signing him as a supplemental player?

Looking good. Should be in full training very soon. Coaches all very supportive and pushing him. I think the cut off date is march 15. I saw his wife and son turn up at training. The staff then took them inside.

The vision you uploaded on twitter had me super excited to see Keane taking the game on and giving it to Q for a goal. The big Irishman is going to be a beauty. ☘

I get the impression that it’s you who doesn’t rate Scharenberg and you’re hoping that Murphy will leapfrog him rather than the coaches.

Everyone is a superstar in pre-season. Means nothing until Round 1.
Means a potential place in the round 1 team. You are talking about 2 players who are not currently best 22. If one can stand out in the pre season they are a good chance to get that round 1 spot . Then the real stuff begins.
