I hope you reconsider jonbe54 and remain on BF. You appear to be of the same vintage as me and, from reading your posts, it seems we share similar views on footy and life in general.

Looking at the posts that have been pruned, I think yours might be next for the chop. Perhaps jobe54 had a valid point after all despite not liking my walking man comment.

Because the post you quoted has been deleted along with my response and the responses to that response. Maybe off topic posts are being deleted given it’s a training thread. Our current conversation will also be deleted so enjoy it while it lasts. The Gimps posts and its replies should also go if irrelevance is the reason.

Cheers for the explanation GG. That makes sense, although I would have thought the issues we were discussing are still important, although not directly relevant to the thread topic.
PS By that ligic, why haven't heaps of posts been deleted from the Beams thread?

Diversity of views is essential or this place becomes chronically boring. The problem is Jon goes hard and has become pretty indiscriminate between ball and man recently...

The broader issue is the amount of long time posters we’re losing who seem to be getting replaced by nuisance accounts. They’re the ones that really deserve the treatment, but the problem is the long standing posters are less inclined to use the report function because they’re more accustomed to the banter. That’s my two cents anyway.

Most likely. Would be a mixture of both I’d assume. The art is meant to do wonders for mental health. He was pretty open and honest but obviously not completely as he wouldn’t want everyone knowing.

Gods honest truth you were, to me at least, about 18 months ago. Things generally change once familiarity sets in, but there are certain accounts that you can tell are just here to push an agenda (Jon refers to them as sheeple I believe) and get straight onto the report button with anything that remotely nudges the line.

Teams wised up to our midfield. Our advantage was slick hands to get the ball clear. When we got the ball, teams were over committing tacklers, leaving someone free to dish off to. Teams have realised that they don't need the second tackler, because we don't have the pace or power to break from congestion. Thus they're covering off outlets and the lone tackler wraps up the bloke with the footy.

but footy has also changed from a hard ball get system to a “first layer” outside th contest system. And thats where we’re weak.

It certainly belongs here. It is training and that is what this thread is (supposed to be) about. Interesting to note that the carlton practice game is listed on the AFL site as 6 25 minute quarters (think that is what the article means). Get a look at more players in one go. I like it.
 
With these additional practice matches I naturally worry about the potential for injuries to our A graders....

but there is real upside in having the rest of the squad battle it out for the perhaps 3-4 spots that are still open for rd 1, and an opportunity to flirt with different player roles and team structures

Hope there is half decent live feed coverage of it. But likely to be only a post game match report
