I don't believe that, can you post it? Watters, Neeld and Leon Cameron's would have to be worse off the top of my head.
They were quoting it on one of the footy shows this morning, C9 I think?

My take on Macca is that he is now past his use by date, I have swung as indecisive as the team was last night. I had a long drive home to think about the Bulldogs after watching yet another soulless performance. I actually rang SEN and spoke to Terry Wallace, and apparently mine was the best call, look forward to my dinner, but that aside, this club and it's players have no passion, no soul, no fight and if some of you people were amongst the pitiful crowd of 18,000 that attended our home game, surely you must see that no matter what McCartney has been trying to build in his 3 years at the helm it is seriously crumbling. We flattered the score board in the last quarter, I reckon I saw one or two bits of good play to 3/4 time and if it wasn't for the persistence of Bob Murphy and some deft touches by Marcus Bontempelli in the last quarter we wouldn't have got as close as we did.

I am sorry but McCartney is not the messiah, he is not the man that will drive success to the Bulldogs, he simply is a terrific bloke, probably a half decent development coach, but he is not a Senior Football Coach in the AFL. It is now up to the President Mr Peter Gordon to make a tough call and replace him now, because if not, can someone here tell me when we are going to win our next game. There is only so much pain one can have following your footy team, a win last night would have been nice, but even if we had of won, it is still time for Macca to go.

I know I am going to get howled upon here, but I agree with someone else I am all for giving one Mr Terry Wallace the job, a man who had a fairly decent record of success, yes he failed to deliver a flag, but he was not Napoleon Solo on that one, but if anyone had of heard the hurt and passion in his voice last night on SEN, I think there is a man if asked would grab the job again and bring back the voice to the Dogs. We are a rudderless ship, and I fear for my team not only next week but ongoing weeks. If I am wrong and we turn the ship around then I will be amongst the happiest here, but I sort of think it is not going to happen for a while.

They say 18K, I go to all games and their was less than last week IMO. Lucky to be 15k there last night.

They kept flashing on the board 18,000, not many Bulldog supporters in attendance. I was sitting in level 3 and we were outnumbered. On current form, care to tell me how many will attend the game when we play the Giants, might be the same as the crowd in the 2nd last game at the Whitten oval in 1989, 8,900 odd.

Why would you fabricate a crowd of 18k? Particularly after putting 14k up the week before?

Anybody else think that not having played at the highest level could be an impact?
It's a theory that I haven't agreed at until now - because he's been in the AFL system for 12 years before we hired him.
But at the same time, what made him a good assistant coach, you didn't need to have been a good player - he's a good man-manager, development man, and list builder.
But when it comes to the heat of the game and making tactical decisions, the fact that he never played might have had an effect. His lack of leadership and total of 0 adjustments in the 2nd quarter when we were getting killed could be a reflection of that.
Take a look at Leppitsch for Brisbane (and Hinkley for Port) - both champions of the game who would know what it's like to be out there.
Anybody else swung around to my point of view?

If our former President Peter Gordon can make a return to the fold so can our former senior coach Terry Wallace. He has been out of the coaching for a few years, but he is still at an age to make a comeback and I am all for it. I want a man who has some passion about him, not afraid to make big calls and he can coach.

Yeah lets get Wallace back...we are still paying for his light bodied mosquito fleet who couldn't get the job done. Ask Richmond how they are going after Wallace's 5 year plan he implemented over there.
Thanks for almost getting us there Terry....but you walked out on us and you aint coming back matey

I think we all need to sit back and have a few kool aids after last night's result.

IF he's implying it's because we're young than maybe he shouldn't use that 'excuse' against younger teams
In the starting line up last night I think you could only define one player as young its just spin

They lifted and a very young team like they are, younger than us, you all of a sudden find yourself in space and when you’re getting the ball, you get more confident.

I don't think you can take that statement as oh where young give us a break....

IMO he's simply saying if you let a young team become confident like we did at the end of the 1st it shouldn't really surprise that in the 2nd quarter they came out with a head of steam. We as a team should of stopped that but didn't till the 3rd quarter.....

This guy lives in la la land
Brendan every week you talk about fade outs during times of the game, are you aware that if you kick enough of a score during the rest of the game that when a team does get a run on it wont hurt you as much Also Brendan please dont patronize me,the club that we played got beat well over 100 points the last time they played this venue so the fact that take away maybe 15 minutes of the game they played much better then us

Sorry BM I just cant take anymore spin

Once again you're patronising yourself by reading into either what you want to read into his presser or what he's not saying both of which aren't giving you justification why we're shizen.

I would be fairly certain a bloke with more knowledge about the game then most would know that if you kick more goals then opposition you generally win.
I would also be fairly certain that he knows that if you create score board pressure you generally have an easier day in the office.

Also where did he say barring a crap 15 minutes???

The development that hasn’t taken place is to don’t let a horror five minutes become a horror 25 minutes. There’s lots of other areas of our game that are improving.

In the end we weren’t good enough for 40 minutes tonight. We’ve got to accept responsibility, I take responsibility. We move on, but we are disappointed in ourselves.’’

Very few people were up for the fight in that patch.

I think you need to take a breath because he said nearly everything you wanted him to say he didn't go into great detail per say but geeeez what do you want from him??

To blast Howie? To blast Williams? etc.
To scream and shout throw shit around the room etc. to show he's angry/annoyed etc.??
etc.

What would that do? How would that solve any problem? Would that make him a better coach because he "shows" his emotion? or would it do the opposite?

For instance how are the Scott brothers portrayed? Passionate yes but also sooks...
Is that what we want/need from a coach constantly pointing the finger at someone else?
He put his own hand up for Jebus' sake We’ve got to accept responsibility, I take responsibility.

“One thing I said to the boys after the game is I’m in it with them. I’m the leader, the leader goes first
.

I'm not a body language expert but if you cant tell that he was pissed the heck off like most of us then well.......

Hope that the loss will force him to change his ideas, grant deep in the second half was better as he created a lot of space but the same same errors every week do not provide one with much enthusiasm.

I agree. I welcome a 5 year plan that gets us to 9th, we can be Ninthdogs!

That doesn't work... Bullninth maybe?

Oh but fargy you must have been brainwashed by his snake oil salesman spin.
How many slabs of kool aid did he hit you up for? LOL
Haha I was sceptical about the kool aid at first, but after my first sip I was hooked :p
In seriousness I don't see any spin, I see consistency in his message. I'm not one who really wants a coach to be contraversial like some :p

Brendon GROUNDHOG DAY McCartney

I get where you're going and its a bit each to their own but I did find it funny that Stevens was asking questions fairly similar to a few on here.....

Also Carey seems to be on board he can see where we're at and going sooooo that's a positive.

Excuse me if I'm not allowed to post in here, but having seen some pretty average coaches recently I don't think Macca is one of them.

Who is leading your recruiting these days?

I think it's all good having a bunch of quality inside mids, and Crameri was the right get, but I think the Dogs need to be more aggressive in their pursuit of a big forward like you were when you grabbed Hall.

To me, McCartney looks like a great educator and has a good football brain; but you watch more of your club than I do, obviously, and if he's not coping with losing so well than it's a tough situation to be in.

There's a real dearth of quality coaches around at the moment, so unless you throw a bucket of cash at Bomber or Worsfold - who is a viable alternative?

Anyway, best of luck for the rest of the year. If it's not wins, at least you know that your boys have tried and you can finally land a quality young KPF.
