'On the spectrum' could mean anything given the wide range of qualifying behaviours. It certainly doesn't mean a life of misery for the child or parents, especially for parents who can afford specialist carers.

Only the Kelly's know if they played this angle to help get the move. How was his insistence on West Coast over Freo advantageous for them if they have children on the spectrum? West Coast's statements about their players also having young children, so he made the right move, is laughable.

Sounds like your degree tops mine, as well as your interactions with the Kelly's.
Read the earlier thread responses and you'll find other reasons why Freo was unsuitable.

I'm done with this topic and merciless people. It's all been debated ad nauseum.

Cause his manager said they have been in talks with wce ever since he was drafted. And even before that.

We also asked him if he was happy to move if he got drafted and he said yes. That was also confirmed by the club.

He lied the whole way through about wanting to be here when his manager admitted they have been in talks with west coast for 2 years.

Are those FACTS, admitted by his manager, proof enough?

Geez some of you guys are nieve. They plotted the move since day one, even before the kids were diagnosed.

Were you happy to sign Danger? This is the game - players change - support the team.

I cant believe the Kelly bashers

He said during the year just gone - he and his partner looked at the angles at trying to stay - but with the family support - he just had to go home - he then said thats why im sitting here in these colours ( West Coast )

How he said that - thats not putting the boot into Geelong at all

Good compensation received - hopefully the Cats can relaunch

Some of the melts on here are a little disappointing. Gave his all for the club and wanted to move back for family support. Obviously had issues with Fremantle and some of their players. I'm happy for him and hope he does well
So many bitter people in the world.
Having kids with special needs is hard enough, having no family support is even harder. People forget football is just a game and there is much more to life than football.

He was never honest with us. Lied saying he was happy to go anywhere to get a shot at afl. Then was having talks with west coast from day 1.

Danger gave the crows 8 yrs of service and was a free agent. Not even close to comparable.
Will you stop trolling genuine Cats fans with your negative attacks on a player who delivered for us this year way beyond. And bagging his family is just plain weak. You are a troll of the highest order and I think you are definitely not a Cats fan.

At the end of the day, if you aren't prepared to move around the country, don't become an AFL player. Don't nominate for the draft. Go back to playing WAFL and being a sparky.

Assume you were happy to take Danger off our hands though??
Pay attention to any other sport and player movement is a normal thing, the AFL is one of few sports where there's still a bad stigma around player movement. You guys ended up with a good haul that probably helps your more in the long term than having Kelly on the list.

I don't think many are bashing him more digs at his partner.

Just say he wasn't drafted.
Hes working 40-50 hrs a week plus training plus match day.

Gets drafted bye geelong does not have to work afull time job anymore.Hes home with the kids heaps more.
2 years later hes pay gone up over double.

The 2 years here in geelong worked out pretty well for him and his family.
If it was his call and only him he probably would stay.

All the best to the Kelly's.

Didn't he say at some point that if you can move Geelong to Perth he'd sign for life because he loves the club?

Don't think there are many here who have an issue with player movement per se. Conflating the Danger move with what's occurred here is stretching it quite some though.

Anyhoo, it's done and dusted and hopefully we'll make the most of it. Maybe by snagging Brad Crouch.;)

It was mentioned on AFL.com.au that Carlton need two first round picks to get both Papley and Martin. They currently have pick 9, it was floated as an idea we might trade 14 and 17 for 9. Not a move I support, however.

14 and 17 isnt worth it unless you get above freo. 14 and 24 for 9 id do (they can use that for papley and martin). Id only trade the 2 firsts for 5. Or we could sit on them and if we are lucky jackson gets to 14 and we get a mid at 17.

Yes. I thought his comments about Geelong today were also quite nice.

Agreed. He didnt whack us on the way out and made sure we essentially got 4 picks inside 40 for him. I cant complain although gee i wish he was still on our list.

To hear a player say how happy he is for Geelong to be well compensated shows his class. Hopefully now him and his family are around family who can make life much more easier

Agreed. I wish we still had them but with kids on the spectrum myself i wish them all the best.

You have to feel for him with clowns targeting his wife. He gave us his absolute all.

Agree.
Every club has supporters who are clowns on social media though. Thats not a Geelong thing.

And Geelong benefited amazingly well through this trade deal and two years of superb football at rookie wages. Seems like a win for your club too.

There’s certainly no hate from a Freo perspective on Tim Kelly. I think the murkiness comes from the manager who stated after the first year that Tim & family must get home for personal & family support, its a must.

Oh, but only to West Coast.....Does he want to go home or not?
Hate that manager!
Good luck Cats.

Might have to change your profile pic, though he would have looked much better in purple and white.... oh well.
