Tommy averages about one free kick per game. So I'd imagine he probably would be somewhere around 12 from marking contests for the season.Interesting stat on the Couch the other night - listed the # of free kicks given in a marking contest.
Tomma not listed anywhere in the top 10 - meaning less than Rance whom has 18. He might have more than Reiwoldt whom has 12.
Not sure where he sits but for Tomma to be 2 goals I thin behind Brown with at least 24 less free kicks in a marking contest ( granted doesn't say where they are paid) but thats a fair differential.
Of course, Tomma goes about his thing and gets criticised for arguing with the umps, but the media polish Jack for his rough treatment.
And its fair to say Tomma has gotten plenty of the rough end of the pineapple. Its not a perfect stat but adds to his case.

Not just Paddy - of our top ten I50 contributors this year, only two had disposal efficiency better than 75% (Murdoch and Tuohy). Thanks for that. He had a great year. Now for the question- can Dangerfield with that explosive pace and power improve his kicking to land the ball on Hawkins chest on a regular basis.
Didn't know that about Murdoch, signs good for 2019. Oh wait we moved him on.Not just Paddy - of our top ten I50 contributors this year, only two had disposal efficiency better than 75% (Murdoch and Tuohy).
Kelly by far the worst at 63.4% DE.
But it is worth noting that WCE had worse de:I50 ratios, indicating it was more to do with us keeping the ball in there rather than how it got there that let us down.
Good signs, then, that the club is focussing on both shortfalls this coming season.
We will definitely be sorry we let Murdoch go at the end of season 2018.Didn't know that about Murdoch, signs good for 2019. Oh wait we moved him on.
Not kicking a 70 or 80 is all that separates him from the paragons of his role.TBone should've been AA, IMO, probably just needed about another 5 goals to make the team, but he was as good as any of those who made the forward line in 2018.
Reading between the lines, I am guessing we have some salary pressure being freed up with the Murda move. If freeing up his salary (and GHS and Menz) allowed us to get two first 22 in Rohan and Dalhouse, while being able to build a significant warchest for guys like Parfitt and Kelly next year, I am ok with it.Didn't know that about Murdoch, signs good for 2019. Well going on the stat published on this Board he wasn't our worst this year. Whether he as a good player well... perhaps if he had been played across the half forward lie where he could use the skill he had-good mark, good kick at goal- who knows. Whether Dalhaus and/or Rohan will prove to be any good----- well who knowsI would be amazed if, after the shitcanning this Board indulged in on Murdoch over the last few seasons... that there would be one iota of regret seeing him out the door.....
Actually, I probably wouldn't be amazed....
I think Dalhouse is a no brainer to be better than Murda. Jury is out on Rohan, but I am measuring him against Menzel, not Murda.Well going on the stat published on this Board he wasn't our worst this year. Why measure him against Menzel at all? They're not likely to be playing very comparable roles.I think Dalhouse is a no brainer to be better than Murda. Jury is out on Rohan, but I am measuring him against Menzel, not Murda.

Yep. What are Menzel's measurable's anyway? games played a season? And in this thread about Tom .where does ex geelong player DM fit anyway?
What id like to ask..do we think we have Tom H replacement on our list atm.. he is far from insignificant ..so far that if he had a season where he was out for the majority of it .. it would probably kill our chances of making finals. And lets face it Tom is not getting any younger. Is Savrat that player? or NK? Or would we go with a player like Stanley playing as the second tall..
Not directly. I agree, but I can't see Rohan rotating through the middle so he will play that third tall role that Menzel did. So if he compliments our forward line more effectively than Menzel, I will be happy. Why measure him against Menzel at all? They're not likely to be playing very comparable roles.
I agree there are ways Rohan can contribute that would make me happy. Not directly. I agree, but I can't see Rohan rotating through the middle so he will play that third tall role that Menzel did. So if he compliments our forward line more effectively than Menzel, I will be happy.
If he provides no additional benefit, but still has legs come finals time, I will be happy.
If he increases our forward pressure, I will be happy.
That sort of thing.

I still wouldn't see the point in comparing him to Menzel, regardless of how well or poorly either performs.
Better would be if we signed him for 2 years after the first 4 rounds of the season, he plays round 5 before missing 10 weeks of football and then has surgery after returning to pre-season training...I can only imagine the reaction on here if Menzel were still on the list and in the surgical ward as he is now
