You forgot McKay who is leading on 46. Can't see Tomahawk making up a 9 goal deficit in the space of 7 rounds.
Easy he kicks 6 again this week and we hold McKay to 0.

He easily could. The race so far is

Tex Walker (Adelaide) 41
Josh Bruce (Bulldogs) 39
Ben King (Suns) 38
Tom Hawkins (Geelong) 37

and there's still a few more rounds to go. He won the Coleman last year with 49 goals.

Josh Bruce aside who has Naughton alongside him, the other two on that list (and Harry McKay for that matter) are the key targets up forward for their respective sides. Hawkins has Cameron alongside him as an inside 50 target as well.

He’s a sneaky chance to make a run for the Coleman would need to kick a couple of small bags and McKay to drop off. Probably left his run a bit late but will probably finish 2nd and earn another all Australian.

Tommy being compared to Dunstall & Lockett in terms of his influence on AFL website podcast.
Put Hawkins in the 80s/90s and he kicks a lot more goals just by the virtue of getting a lot more one on ones.

Edit: i don't mean more than Lockett i mean more compared to his current stats

I think it's pretty unlikely given Carlton's fixtures. It's basically the equivalent of ours except we play Melbourne while they play GCS.

Also a lot more space to lead in to. When we've managed to get him one on one with space in front of him he's near unstoppable. Hard to do these days, but much easier in the 80s and 90s. He'd have killed it back then.

Also would not of got suspended as much for minor little things like jumper punches lol

Someone posed this to me in another thread, and decided I'd do some digging. Posting it here, if anyone's interested.

As per the below post, Hawkins has kicked over 1,000 points in the final quarter from 2012 to now. He is the only player to do this, and also ranks 3rd by percentage of score kicked in the 4th quarter (out of the players to have kicked 250+ goal from 2012 to 2021).

You're not wrong. Out of the 18 players to kick 250+ goals between 2012 and 2021, Tom Hawkins ranks 3rd only behind Roughead and Junktime Jack. 28% of Hawkins points have been scored in the final quarter.

From the below list, he is the only player to have scored over 1,000 last-quarter points since 2012.

Tom doesn't have too many bad ones despite getting little love from the maggots. He is routinely scragged or blocked out of contests with defenders acutely aware that they are unlikely to be penalised.

Just the 7 frees for in 2020 and only the 10 in 2021. Putting this in perspective, Charlie Dixon has already received 36 frees in 2021.

Dixon is actually the primary example for me of just how poorly Toma is treated. He is another massive unit who just doesn't get the 'tax' that Hawkins suffers in every single contest he takes on. Receives some of the softest 'free kicks for' you will ever see, and routinely gets away with the pushes in the back and similar that Toma gets whacked for every single week.

It's an absolute joke that seemingly never gets old with the officials of our game.

Hawkins just passed Jack Moriarty to move into 27th place on the all-time goalkickers list. Bob Pratt is next, 17 goals ahead of Tom on 681. Then there's a big log-jam of past players between 700 and 750 goals so if Tom plays another two seasons he could easily move into the top 15.

Superb tonight in the Qualifying final...what a player he is.
