Very encouraging to hear both Hawk and Chris Scott in the aftermath of yesterday saying they think he has a lot of footy left

Looking at the table overall top 10 is PROBABLY out of reach - he needs 120 to catch Peter McKenna but Riewoldt, Bartlett, Richo and Quinlan are all probably certainties if he plays on next season assuming Jack doesn’t go on a tear.
He would need to play 2 seasons after this one to have a chance at McKenna I think but who knows.

If he plays on next year he breaks the clubs game record barring serious injury.

It is incredible to think that since turning 30 Hawkins has been All Australian every year, he has kicked over 50 goals a season, won a Coleman medal, won a premiership medal, AA captaincy, and broken a personal record by kicking 8 goals in a game.

I think he goes a couple more years as long as he still enjoys playing even if he drops down to only playing 15 games a year.

Football careers are relatively short. If Tom is still enjoying it, adding value to the team, and his body holds up, why not?

Once a player gets to the mid 30s, the end can come pretty quickly. But there's good reasons to be optimistic that Hawkins can go on for years to come. He's hugely powerful, a long accurate kick of the ball, his F50 ruckwork is immensely useful, and his instincts for dishing off goal assists are second to none. If one of those skills were to drop off he'd still be comfortably best 22. Also, he recovers quickly. There was talk he'd miss the first few rounds of the year, but he recovered in time to be only hampered slightly in the opening games. How long can he keep going? Who knows? It's up to him, but I wouldn't put the mythical 400 games mark beyond his reach.

Tommy up to equal 3rd for goal assists:

And at the same time, he's moved up to 3rd on the goal kicking leaders for this year

Yet some people are arguing that a key forward in top 3 for BOTH goals and assists shouldn't be in the rolling AA team. I'm fine with three smaller forwards being included at the expense of a resting mid, but if current form holds then all of Hawkins (FF), Curnow (CHF) and Cameron (HFF) should be included. All would play in a dominant forward line as Cameron roams so far up the ground anyway.

He's going to go down as one of the all-time greats, an absolute champion who is just not slowing down at all.

He's turning 35 this year isn't he? Just ageing like a fine wine is the big fella, joy to watch.
It's just a shame goal assists weren't recorded until 2003. Because Hawkins has handed off more than any other key forward in history probably. Lloyd over the last 7 years of his career averaged 0.59 assists a game. Hawkins 2018 onwards has assisted a ridiculous 1.04 a game, with a 0.85 a game career total. Jack Riewoldt actually has very strong assist numbers for his career: 0.74 a game but it's dipped to 0.68 a game since 2018. So especially since Hawkins started racking up consecutive AAs the evolution of his game has actually been to hand off many more, when he was already an unselfish full forward.

Mix the goal/assist totals up and Hawkins actually edges Riewoldt per game too.

Which is honestly unthinkable when you remember 2013 and how career endingly hampered he looked.
Amazing to end up becoming the player he has been.
In 2013 I was just hoping he would manage a few more seasons as a competive key forwards before hanging up the boats... ten years later here we are at career best bags. Champion player.
