Who knows - maybe they don't rate this draft.

Maybe Brisbane don't want it and would rather something next year (hence getting future picks)

It's possible we find out more in the coming 24 hours.

Either way - Hickey was about pick 40 and pick 60 (which equates to about pick 32/33 if you like that sort of thing)

Brisbane have limited spots and are only using 2 picks this year. They want futures.

Don't you have to take three picks in the draft?

There was talk about relief from that this year due to changing list sizes.

And you only have to take three picks if you enter the draft - i believe you retain the right not to go into the draft at all

Do you even need 3x picks in the draft to take 3x players?

If you only had 1 pick in a draft, doesn't it just get to the point where once every other team has passed, and then you have unlimited extra trades (if you so choose) to do what you like before you formally 'pass' as well?

Granted there's nothing left at that point... but it is doable I thought.

I honestly can't remember another trade where a player was traded out and made your draft worse.

I can see what Eagles are doing and why they're loading up on next year, it's just a bit of an anomaly.

I actually think Williams is ready to go, and Jamieson looks to be developing as well.

Good on the Eagles making this bit interesting - this year's been a bit of a snore-fest.

Hope he goes well at Sydney - he's better than anything they have already
Looks like he put in a good one first up vs. Brisbane.

Split the ruck with Oscar McInerney but beat him in almost everything else. 9 clearances to 2 and 23 disposals to 12.
Certainly shown he is capable of holding a #1 ruck spot.

Hope he continues to do well (except against us).

He will get a Brownlow vote
