We've not really been linked to him with any real tangibility bar a few "and North" tack ons, most of the talk comes from Facebook pages. Saying that, and it's been noticed by a few on the North board, we've not really been linked to anybody which means either we're not looking to spend what's left of the old "warchest" this year or the loose lips that put us forefront of the Kelly/Dusty/Gaff headlines have been told to shut the fu** up and our business is being done in house now.
100%
league wide there is not much talent available.
draft crop looks a bit crap also.
we totally needed to stfu after the last few years.
i think its a bit of both

Are North still interested in Papley ? All I have read recently in the media is Carlton are still very keen ?
Have NMFC walked away over the contract trigger ? Not a dig at North btw, just curious..

He is a good acquisition but not for a first rounder. 2nd and 3rd rounder.

A pick between 6-10 would be bare minimum really.

Crazy how much draft picks get overvalued. Look at the AA team just announced - only 3 players were taken under pick 9.

Trading a first round pick for a known quantity player is a no brainer.

Bare minimum lol 2nd rounder at max. Perhaps 2019 second 2020 third. First rounder for Jones. Mason wood will get a second back. The papleys u can find them anywhere, the wood type is far rarer. If anything woots would cost you late first early second.

Nah that’s a bit delusional mate. Papley is worth 6-10 minimum. Jones is harder to value, maybe 10-16 range. Wood obviously the least valuable of the 3, but maybe a mid 2nd round pick at best - assuming you find a club who really wants him.

I don't think you're ever really gonna hit any real accuracy when rating your own players vs the one your club might be trying to pick up from elsewhere.

All the talk on the Carlton is if Joe Daniher joins the Swans, Sydney are happy to trade Papley to the Blues (although it may seem like both deals could be part of a super duper 3 way trade)
I am actually more confident that we can snag Paps.

I fail to see how getting the key forward Daniher means they are then happy to trade the long term contracted small forward Papley?

More likely the Swans get Cripps, having played all his careeer for a bottom 2 team, though he finally had an achievement in season 2019 & turned his team into a destination club by finishing 3rd bottom.
The over inflation of where Carlton are at is mind boggling & Carlton would be the last club Papley would go to should he ever want to come to Melbourne.

Sam McClure (yeah I know he is a tool but does have good intel) still thinks Papley will end up at Carlton, even if it will end up being done late on the final day of the trade period.

Not the best source of Sydney info.

If it is from Andrew Wu then will believe it

Cant see Sydney letting him go unless Papley has issue's where he must come to melbourne which might be the case but he wont be cheap and i would doubt they would accept any less than a top 10 pick. Carltons pick #8 would get it done but doubt you would get anything back in that trade.

Would carlton be happy to part with that pick which will probably become pick #10 if GC are awarded a PP and Gws select green after a bid

I think if The Swans are dead keen on Joe Daniher as everyone thinks, they need the 1st rnd pick they will get from Carlron for Papley in the deal (Swans will not give up their first pick this year)

But The Swans also (understandably) want a fair bit more from Carlton, so this is why a deal (If it happens) will take quite a while to thrash out.

We’ll get Daniher & keep Papley. Daniher is not dependant on any other deal.
