surely laurelli from the knights would be up there...hes the new spider burton...im not gunna lie, lets be honest....

spita cousins keeping u posted..

We have two young defenders in Bower and Austin and traded a young CHF called Josh Kennedy to the WCE. I think we'll have to draft a tall forward early in the next draft if Hartlett and Edwards don't develop and play decent footy next year.
Bower will be a solid player but no superstar. Austin i havnt seen much on so i cant comment.

And that's why you're not a recruiter. :)
No im not. But i have seen enough of the Big 5 (Gibbs, Burger, Hansen, Gumby, Thorp) to say that Hansen is the best out of the lot. And thats saying something.

He's got a lot going for him this kid. Finished in the top 40 in WA's TEE results. If he comes back well from injury will probably be top 10.

I think he's certainly a roughie given his performances in the finals series for Subiaco.

I've seen Rich play a few times and for a young player I couldn't really identify any big weaknesses. Could someone who has seen him play more often tell me what his weaknesses, if any, are?

If the top three are Naitanui, Hurley and Rich, who are players that are likely to be in the mix at four or five?

The big five?

There's no such thing when Boak was picked at five in the real world and not on a forum that didn't have Birchall, Pendlebury and Thomas picked where they went in the 2005 draft. ;)

Am i the only one thinking Natanui isn't as good as people perceive him to be?

Sure he can jump over Mt Everett and tackle down King Kong but what does he offer? Seriously.

juddy_Like I have to agree with you, it was not long ago that The West Australian newspaper had a full page article on him. He said in the article that up to recently that he did not have any interest in playing AFL & that the U18's carnival changed his mind. Was it the carnival that changed his mind or all the media attention that he received. Yes he does have some ability but does not like any physical attention and as you stated his kicking is below average, one thing that he has on his side is height.Have seen him ruck in games where the opposition ruckmen has used his body against Natanui & all Natanui does is get further away from the tap to avoid the physical contact. Also he is not a natural in the footy smarts dept. Look by no means am I bagging the kid, I'd like to see every kid succeed, but I am just trying to keep it real. Sometimes a lot of media hype can give young kids a false enviroment making them think they are better than they really are, they then believe they are definite shoo ins to be drafted and their work ethic drops off. They sometimes even get to stage were they dont put in 100% at their own club because of knowing they will be drafted, which causes animosity within the team. I have seen it happen many times before. Sometimes it is not a good thing to be drafted in the top 10, the players who get drafted in the higher numbers usually become better footballers and have longer careers due to the fact that they have always had to work harder to prove themselves. As for Natanui, I wish him him all the best as their is no doubt that he will we drafted.

Hamish Hartlett would be one of them. Suban might be the other.

I still think people are overrating Natanui a bit because he beat Kreuzer, the man everyone came to see, in the ruck at the National Champs.

That's not to say that he's not a Top 10 pick next year, but beating Kreuzer in hit-outs is hardly confirmation that he's a superstar player.

For mine, he's still an undersized ruckman with poor skills. As a comparison, I don't think he's a better prospect than Patrick Ryder was when he was drafted, and he went at #7 when it all shook down. Besides, he's going to have enough competition in the undersized ruckman stakes from McKernan and Trengove.
This kid could revolutonize ruck play. The opposition ruckman at center bounces might as well stand there with his hands on his hips because he won't be winning the tap. And he'll dominate the throw in's because his hands are quicker than the Waco kid. Some have called him a freak, thats not true, he's a SUPER FREAK who seems to improve in every game he plays. Overrated? Not when your ability has an infinite ceiling.

What makes people think Naitanui will go Top 3, he is only 196cm and his skills aren't great. He'll go Top 10, but not top 3, IMO.

Bit overrated because he got the better Kruezer, IMO.

Yes lets keep it real, Wayne Hughes said on the record that if Naitanui was available in last years draft he would have picked him number 1.

No talls?

Oh well. :)

Thanks. :thumbsu:

He might be 198 cms now.

There's a long way between now and the next draft.....Suban might not come on and may drop to 10-15 range.....Cornelius might dominate div2 and push for top 5.....Tom Lynch might recover well from his knee op and dominate TAC.......if Shaun McKernan plays like he began to towards the end of last season he might push into top 5 contention. One thing I learnt last year is not to make too many predictions too early (other than locking Naitanui and Rich into 1 and 2 ).

Is it Tom Lynch or Tom Swift?

There is alot of water to go under the bridge, but it's only ten months away and most of the young guns in the last superdraft went where they were expected.

Is Trengrove another KPP to look out for?

Or is he a ruck?

Tom Swift = midfielder from WA
Tom Lynch = KPP from Hailebury (Sandringham Dragons)

Trengove IIRC is about 196-197cm and spent some time in the ruck as well as defence for Calder.....has a good leap and good timing so competes well for his size, he probably shaded Kreuzer in the ruck in their TAC final last year, but K was running around on one leg effectively. With the trend towards 200+cm athletes who can run and leap tall building in a single bound I would think he'd need a few cm's to be drafted as a ruckman...but is mobile enough and reads the play well enough to play KP.

I believe both have had knee reconstructions which is what through me.

Trengrove sounds like Ryder who was a tweener ruck and was developed into a CHB.

I assume Gaertner will be in the mix as well.

It sounds like a very good draft so I'll keep an eye out for those names. :thumbsu:
