Sick of hearing all these cocky eagles fans saying they will be top 4.

Sure they have a EASIER run then us but we are carlton f*ck the rest

We can beat freo/st kilda and hawks then we are top 4.

Why can't we beat them? How about we back our team up instead of actually like we have 0 chance.

Sick of many of our own showing no heart.

CARN BLUE BAGGERS TOP 4 IS OURS!

Few too many soft drinks?

The trouble is, even if we win all our remaining games, we have to rely on Hawks or WCE dropping a couple to keep us in there which is unlikely due to their relatively easy run home.

Dropping to 5th wouldn't be the end of the world. Whoever finishes 8th will have scraped in there so it should be a resounding victory whoever it is (hoping for Freo) but then very high chance of having to travel to Perth for our Semi.

Anything can happen though, gonna be a very interesting last few weeks/finals series methinks.

Hawks lose to North/Dogs. We beat Freo, Hawks and Saints. Simple.

But then again...i'd rather finish 5th and play Freo at the MCG than finish 4th and have to play the Pies then Hawks/Cats...

we may win all those, but even the mighty blues must go without premiership points for a bye. neither the hawks or eagles look terribly vulnerable in their remaining games.

Clearly haven't done your homework there baconb, did you fail maths???

:thumbsu: love your passion though..... just need the Eagles or Hawks to drop one that they shouldn't and that will shut them up!

Not if they climb to 3rd!!! We would need to beat the Hawks well and Eagles pick up a big chunk of % over the next month for that to happen though!!

Given a choice of playing W/C in Perth or Hawthorn or Geelong in Melbourne? I would actually prefer to go to Perth as Westcoast are a reasonable team but they are far from invincible. I think home ground advantage is less important in finals as every player is up for the challenge I don't think they give a stuff about were it is played. I would actually back us to win that one.

Certainly are interesting lot the weagles fans. I've been listening to "keep our top 4 spot warm" and "see you week 2 of the finals - if you win your elim", etc for over a month now. Yep I'm starting to understand why Perth Carlton people really dislike these morons!

ps. wouldn't be surprised if Richmond beat them today!

One week at a time. Let's face it, we could win every game and still finish 5th. We could also lose every game and still finish 5th.

Wherever we finish we'll have Waite, Jamison, Carrazzo, Armfield, Curnow and Russell back. First team since Adelaide in 1998 to win the premiership from 5th seems the most likely outcome. :thumbsu:

WC flogged us and thus the WC fans have every right to be cocky

Why do people think that if we finish 4th and lose to Collingwood, we then have to play the Cats or Hawks?

If we finish 4th and lose, we would be playing whichever team finishes 5th most likely and that could be the Hawks or Eagles, but not the Cats.

If we pull off an upset against the Pies, we are looking at a prelim against neither the Cats or Pies, while they beat each other up in the other.

4th and playing the Pies for a spot in a prelim and the opposite side of the draw, is definitely worth taking the odds to.

Let's reassess things after today.
I wouldn't be surprised for North to beat Hawthorn on a wet track in Tassie.

Everything would have to go right for us to finish 4th. and 3rd. looks like quite a long shot, really.
I was referring to the Eagles possibly finishing 3rd and not us, I am thinking we will finish 5th and will miss the trip to the West in the 2nd week if they could somehow climb to 3rd!!

I dont think winning in the West is our major worry, I am more concerned about recovery time/flights etc which could impact on winning the following week against a good team who will be fresh from a weeks rest!

This is where the lopsided fixture hurts us.
Hawks get Power, Suns and twice. Thats an extra 8 guaranteed points for them.

Like Swann said in todays paper we could end up with 16.5 wins and finish 5th.
I might go searching to see when that last happened.

Look at it this way if we finish 5th which is the most likely result, it is not the end of the world. Why! It depends on our showing in the last three games if we play very well and beat all three, and still finsh 5th. We will be Match hardened given that all these games will be played like a final.

On the other The WC and Hawthorn have easier draw, which means less intense matches. I reckon our run is perfect running into finals and we have the bye in the second last round. MY only concern is the players on the park, we desperately need Jammo and Waite back. But also playing some good football coming into finals. My worry again is that Jammo plays just one game before finals and that goes for Waite also. Which makes them underdone, we CANNOT bring any players into finals that are not fit!!

i just looked back to 1960's and no one has ever finished 5th with 16.5 wins so we may make a new record!

If we finish 4th, we probably won't beat the pies anyway. If Cats finish on top THEN I'd be spewing that we missed 4th because I like our chances against them at the MCG better.

We are most likely going to finish 5th unless the Hawks drop 2 more and/or the Eagles drop one. Highly unlikely given their form and their draws. So we finish 5th who do we play?

Well it won't be the Saints, they're on the way up will finish at LEAST 7th. So that leaves either Sydney, Freo, Essendon or North. We have not lost to any of these teams this year and I'm pretty sure the players will be hell bent on making up for the last 2 finals appearances. And yes I know we haven't played Freo yet, but if we play them down here at the MCG, I'd like our chances.

So not to worry we will be playing in at least a semi this year. Most likely against the Hawks or Eagles. I'll need to see how we go against the Hawks first to determine which one I'd rather be facing, but it'll most likely be the Eagles considering they'll most likely finish 4th and lose to the Pies.

Eagles at Subi? Well if we take in some height like Bower, Jammo and Hendo ALL in the backline and all can run, then I reckon we're a huge chance in that one as well.

Win that and we're in a prelim probably against the Cats. That's a 50-50 game IMO especially at the MCG.

So if everything goes right, we can finish 5th and still make it to the GF and who knows maybe history will repeat and we'll snuff the Wobbles out of another premiership and bring home number 17!

I was thinking the exact same way last year before we won the flag but then you realise there is no easy way to win a flag so you cant tip toe around it! If you have to play Pies then so be it but if you dont you will still have to play hawks or cats. Everyone wishes for the best draw and that something bad happens to opposition players so that you have a better chance i.e for pies supporters it would be for Judd to do his ACL and for Blues supporters im sure it would be for thomas and pendleburys legs to break :p ! put simply you need a bit of luck but you have to beat the best teams regardless! Carlton is a good team and whoever they play will be cautious as i think you guys can cause an upset but realistically you are about 1 year off a flag as i think you are still missing a few key position players and your list doesnt run that deep if comes into play.

Good luck for finals!:D
