Jonathan Marsh delisted.

Did we ever trial him as a high-half forward/3rd-tall type player? Surely we have right?

Looks to have plenty of tools to be a more complete version of WHE with stronger physicality

He didn't want to be a forward and wanted to go into the midfield but we shoved him back in defence due to a lack of options. Played a couple of seasons in the WAFL in the midfield iirc where he was happier (and more productive). St Kilda then did exactly the thing he said previously that he didn't want by first playing him back as a KPD and then shoving him inside F50 this year as a 2nd / 3rd tall forward without any success, which appears to be why they cut him.

IMO he struggles at this level, gets a bee in his bonnet and looks looks like a world beater, those bees are few and far between though, it's all above the shoulders with him, he certainly has the tools and then some.

IMO he just doesn't want it enough.

Great post. Many experts outside the club have also said the Pies trade period isn’t as bad as it is being painted. They’ve all said communication was poor but many think Pies are still in a strong position.
Let’s assume the reported 300k we are still paying Treloar is true. If he plays 20 games next season and averages 25 possessions, every handball and kick will cost Collingwood $600.

This trade period has been a total disaster.

What will the club do if Grundy has another mediocre year?

Whilst this trade period has set people off, its worth remembering that a lot of cap space was burnt on the disaster that is the Beams trade. That is one we should be investigating re due diligence etc. The cap cost, draft picks and ruckus it caused in the club has had a major impact IMO.

I suspect if we looked into it we would find a lack of process and maybe people sticking their nose in where it does not belong.

I'm not sure there's been too much deflection. Walsh and Guy have both said that it wasn't as bad as the media were suggesting. Anderson reiterated the same/similar.

This board has long been pondering the club's capacity to sign all of Moore, JDG and Grundy. Add the signings of Checkers and Daicos. Add that the AFL haven't permitted the Beams payout outside TPP and that it appears we're going to pay it all out in 2021 TPP. There were always going to be consequences. It appears to me that the club have elected to identify the players they'd prefer to lose and move them on.

People were complaining we weren't being aggressive in the trade period because the club suggested we would be. Then they're complaining when we are. We'll never know the truth of the discussion had behind closed doors but from the outside looking in and the way it has been portrayed it doesn't paint a pretty picture, but hard decisions have been made and hopefully we move forward from here.

I agree with what you're saying and that we made some hard decisions which I think will be beneficial for the club going forward. What annoys me is when Bucks said we were going to be aggressive during trade period, the majority of people believed we were going to finally get a KPF and a couple of other pieces we might need. The club talks in riddles and Bucks is the best of the lot at it, the biggest problem is that it must have an adverse effect on our ability to attract Good players to the club in the future.

aggressive during trade period
We may well have tried.
Our cap position was well known and potentially the clubs just said “yeah-nah” and walked away.
Alternatively, you are correct and it was all rhetoric 🤷‍♂️

I think they had a different result in mind when they said be "aggressive"...

At least we know 40% of his kicks will go to us. So there a plus. Keep positive mate.

Thought he just got home sick and couldn't deal with the mentalities of AFL life at a young age. Battled some mental health issues too?

That what I heard, Mental Issues and Probably got Home Sick because of that.

He’s had two cracks at making the grade. Unfortunately for him, he didn’t.
