If there is a player born to be a small forward at the Tigers, it’s Devon Smith. Does anyone know his contract status?

I don’t think Bolton will make it and I think Higgins will move to the middle....so there is a spot for you in the fwd pocket Devon if you want it!

We had our chance last year. We were more interested in keep salary room for Lynch. But I agree would fit us like a glove.

Did hear we are going pretty hard at Beams. Expecting us to pay slight overs to Brisbane for them to cover a % of his wage. From an ex afl player now part time in the media.

If they cover enough of his wage, Beams would be worth two first rounders to us.

FJ would've picked him ahead of Brandon Ellis if available... not meant to be I guess

Is the Beams talk legit or are we being hopeful?
Not having a go, just curious

Dunno mate. Someone mentioned we were trying to get him across and ask Brisbane to carry some of his existing wage like we did for Deledio and GWS so they could get a better pick/picks from us.

If we land Lynch as a free agent then to me Beams is worth two first round picks if they can carry enough of his wage. We’d be dominant across all 3 lines.

Cotchin, Martin, Beams, Prestia, Lambert, Edwards. Rotating with Caddy, Graham, Higgins, Rioli.

wouldnt think so, still a gun, very out of character, worse still though, probably cost WC a GF spot.
I reckon once you do something like that, you can't say it's out of character. It was an aspect of his character hitherto unrevealed. He punched a bloke in the face hard enough to break his jaw and knock out four teeth. He did it. Him. It's in his character.

I dont agree

Should first-offence murderers get to argue it was out of character?

"Your Honour, I'm not a murderer - this is the first time I've ever done it! It was out of character!"

he has no history, no signs and has been far from a violent or even aggressive player. I also dont believe he intended to punch him the way he did.

Comparing murder to what i believe was an unintentional act is a bit "how ya goin". I get I am in the minority here, but that is how I see it mate.

Murder not a like for like here due to it being "premeditated". The closer comparison would be Manslaughter. In that instance the judge would look at ther persons prior convictions when handing down a sentance

Fair enough, you're entitled to your view, and of course I was exaggerating for effect, but a crime's a crime. An act is an act. He threw a punch and broke a bloke's jaw. That's what happened. What if he'd killed him? (it's happened before with one-punch hits)

I reckon the magistrates has a line of good blokes down there with notes from Mum about how good they are and how unusual this is. I also think you will find Gaff has been involved in push and shove nonsense across his career that have passed without incident until the one time he commits common assault.

If he punched someone’s lights out it’s in character for him clearly, as it wasn’t anyone else out there last night.
