Neale McCarthy Daniher Dunkley?

Got doedee for free sans cap space.

When he’s fit they’ll have doedee Payne and andrews.

We have Jones and then a cliff

We have Jones,Richard’s,Dale,Coffield,a developing ODonnell,Busslinger,Croft that can play back in the future, and backup of Keath and Gardner.Cleary as well.Duryea insurance

Ideally we don’t get multiple injuries to our talls in a number of games next year.

Hopefully they get some confidence back and we get a settled back 6 - not a rotating backline like we had for most of the year.

A cliff? Payne was a spud until recently, and that other spud Adams is gone.

I know which list I would want long term.

Ok so status:

Out: Bruce, TOB, Hannan, McLean, Raak, and probably Sweet. Have we kept McComb?

In: Sanders/Watson, Croft, Coffield, Harmes and two later in the draft - Lual if he falls outside 40 and maybe a roughy ruck?

Flea Marra Lobb/Darcy

Daniel Naughton West

Williams Macrae Poulter

English Bont Libba

Coffield JOD/Keath Dale

Red Jones Doc

Int: Trelor, Smith, Harmes, JJ

??

Looking ahead at what our draft hand looks like 2024. No pick before 30 does not look good. Only Collingwood are in a worse position and they won the flag.

Methinks Sammy Power is expecting a big out next year. Maybe Baz, maybe English, maybe maybe.
It's possible but we also have a father/son or two in Jaxon Cooney and a young Eagleton (forgot his first name).

I'd be shocked if we don't lose one of the two. Aslong as we keep Marra I'm happy.

Cooney is still a few years away.

Cooney is 2025.

It's good to come to the end of the trade period on a good note. Absolute steal of a trade if Coffield can get his body right, paid basically nothing.
Perfect timing for us. Pick 8, looked good early, bad injury run, finally better (hopefully), virtually free!

Looks like Power had to pony up with that future 4th
Bit less than an F4! 😆

Tomorrow is going to be such a bust for the AFL.

Televising the last few hours of a boring AF trade period where the centrepiece is esava and BZT.

At least last year there was Pickering having a sook about Bevo after the Dunkley deal.
Does feel like a pretty dead trade period. Albeit a good one for us (imo).

I think the argument is that we must know a big name is leaving next year if we are trading next year's 1st away.

A counter is that we know we have up to 5 (?) potential father-sons in 2025 and at least 2 are looking good - Cooney and Eagleton.

So knowing this we might feel pretty OK about trading our 2025 1st into 2024.

Maybe it's a long bow but makes some sense.

I've said that a few times. Honestly think it is both - we will lose at 1 big name and we are comfortable in the knowledge our 2025 and 2026 drafts ... at least at this stage .. look good

I now think it’s probably preferable we lose Smith from a salary cap perspective and get a couple of gun young mids we can pay $250k to for 3 years. I’d love to get McKercher or Sanders for that exact reason.

If he left this year (unlikely) could potentially have Watson and Mckercher / Sanders

What's the bet if 43
Reckon we had Croft covered before this trade. Suspect we're beefing up further because we expect Lual at 40+.
I suspect they're holding onto some picks to see where croft lands and trade with the a club like suns for the Rogers bid or whoever their 4th player is. Getting a end of round F1 and Croft would be huge.

They are backing themselves in and fair enough, but the competition is super tight. Bit of bad luck and that pick to Freo can easily be very juicy.
Good teams improve themselves when the opportunity arises. Even if it’s just minimal improvement based on reducing age or salary. It’s how you stay at the top. Probably our biggest mistake post 2016 Feels like we’ve had 3/4 teams since then when it should be incremental.
