I wonder if Jordon Sweet knew that Port were chasing Soldo. And if he didn't I wonder how he feels - will he continue to be a break-glass option, just at a different club?

No schadenfreude from me though. He has steadily improved in the last couple of years and can be a useful tap ruckman at AFL level. I was hoping he'd get a chance to prove it at Port if we couldn't - or wouldn't - provide the opportunity. Hoping he still might, even if he's second banana.

One of his greatest drives was to go home. Port list manager said that as well

Lol youve posted on every second page for the last two weeks saying we’ve got this monster haul in 2025, you literally just said we’ll be in the same position as GC.

I’m not making any guesses as to where these kids will end up I wouldn’t have the slightest of a clue, just pointing out you should cool your jets on it because the chances of it playing out that way are slim to none and not one of these guys is even rated in the top handful of prospects their age at this early point in time.
The NGA rules are expected to change next year with it all becoming Academy programs like Northern Academy

So means bidding is the biggest key now

So for the 2025 draft pool

Jaxon Cooney- Forward/Mid top 15 Prospect
Lukas Eagleton- Tall running full back- Top 30 Prospect
Cohen Lake- Running half back- Top 50 Prospect

NGA:
Deacon Fawcett- 183cm Midfielder- Top 40 Prospect
Seth Fawcett- Tall half back/midfielder- top 40 prospect

2026 Pool:

Levi West- inside beast with great outside speed top 10 prospect

NGA:
Kobe Williams- silky ball winning midfielder/half forward top 10 prospect
Jacob Bayley- Tall running full back- top 40 prospect

Really need a facepalm for dumb s**t like this

We are talking a couple of years out when clubs can deal in future picks .. and you don't think that factored into the club trading future picks this year? The fact they probably need to trade away picks over the next few years for points isn't thought about in advance?
And I really need a facepalm react for people who don't understand satire.

Kobe Williams is Mark Williams' son right? Hopefully he prefers his time with the academy and doesn't want to go to the Hawks as a F/S

Correct, from my understanding

he hasn't been part of the Hawks F/S programs for a while now and really loves it at the Dogs
Every carnival series, he signs up as a Dogs player

So you really expect the NGA to be completely inline with the northern academies VD?

Will be a monumental shift to the draft system with how compromised the drafts would be, I kinda like it because it prioritises well run clubs who develop their academies well (to an extent, a fair bit of luck involved too) and we seem to have a good zone and do really good work in our academies.

Although it will need to be monitored by a hard cap big time so the rich clubs can’t just shuffle enormous amounts of funds into their academies and develop a pipe line of gun prospects, relative to the small clubs.

They’re gonna need to fix that points system too

Isn't Williams tied to Hawthorn as a father son as well?

Also, Dickson in 2026?

Correct

I haven't seen Dickson kid in the academy programs, so unsure what his status is

None of them get a mention in the top 50 prospects on the draft board

From my understanding, it will be but i believe the discount % may alter
AFL expected to announce the details just before round 1

Yes and no

The draft system is already compromised based on how popular some areas of Victoria are in terms of talent via private school funding.
So a lot of kids in the outer NAB league teams don't stand a chance of getting drafted

AFL W.A have raised concerns on their funding pathways as this is their least potential pool in a decade as well.

The Academy are the future imo
Clubs already have a small alignment with NAB league teams in Vic, so AFL focusing one building more pathways via their programs and/or creating a NAB-VFL Academy program to keep players on AFL radar instead of local footy

Would there be any chance he'd pick Academy over father son? Personally I think father son should come first
Anything is possible

Kobe is likely to be part of the Academy for 4-5 years, so he might just be more comfortable joining the Dogs since they helped him develop via their pathways

The points attached to picks are set to change aswell.

By 2026
I fully expect AFL to trade more like NBA with Draft Day player trades alongside Mid-Season

and

The draft pathway to be more like Premier League Academy programs but top 15 players are in a open draft

Is it the opposite for Harry Cameron? Ie in the Plastic's Academy but father son dogs?
Correct
Don't think Leon and the club are on good terms, so i doubt he would be part of our F/S list

Explain why?
Well from history
Leon wanted the Dogs senior role after long term work at the club
got shunned and left to join GWS

Drove a lot of the Dogs vs GWS rivalry

Cameron, Grant and Darcy (and Grgic) still catch up when they can. Some of them were in each other's bridal parties, etc.

Think he's reluctant to move from Sydney with kids still at school, don't know if there was any truth to the rumour we approached him for an assistant role (was mentioned on here early days after season was over for us), so Harry might stay in the Gnats academy by default.

Can he still nominate as F/S eventually if tied to the academy up there?
