I'd do it in a heartbeat. Reid isn't the second coming of Jesus, he's a very good 90kg midfielder against kids who likely has a good career.

4 year deal in reality as he won't play next year.

Why isn't he playing next year? His ACL was at the very start of June and most players are back within 10-11 months these days (I'm aware he's done 2 already).

Even being conservative, there's a good chance he's back in the AFL side by round 14 allowing for an entire 12 months plus an extra couple of weeks.

They aren't the same player. Bruce wasn't that mobile to begin with and was on the wrong side of 30. Bruce returned to VFL footy after 10 months as well.

It's not inconceivable to stay that Doedee could be a very important part of the Lions 2024 campaign.

Bruce 2021 pre knee was actually trimmed down and very mobile Doedee is also coming off both knees now too

The offer from North is pick 2 and 16.
I guess it depends if they think the player they want will be there at pick 4 or not.

I'd guess they would prefer a top 10 pick next year over a late first this year.

I think Eagles hold onto pick 1 personally.
I was mainly posting because of the link to the Hawks pick for a potential Smith trade.

Smith at his best is well worth that.

Of course, the problem is that his best is in a position that he doesn't want to play. I think this is a big part of his form slump.

The other problem as it stands is he hasn't shown a capacity to be a starting mid.

As bulldogs supporters we all have "Skin in the game".

We might think we have, but other than riding the roller coaster life of a supporter, the reality is that we dont.

This is especially so when it comes to list management. The singular aspect of the club that unlike a theoretical spilling the board. We have absolutely zero ability to impact.

I don't want to be rebuilding at the same time as tassie enter the league.

Given the current Tasmanian government is in an ever widening minority and walks on a knife edge. I wouldn't be betting on a Tasmanian side getting up in the timeframe that was outlined.

On English I don't think the ruck is somewhere big money should be invested. As I have stated before if English was to leave (and I wouldn't offer a huge deal to keep him) I'd rather go into next year with a mature age recycled player. If we could get Moyle then he would be my ideal fit but don't see him moving.

Low-balling English in favour of undefined journeyman would be one of the dumbest moves in the clubs history.

People need to understand that he is Tom Campbell MkII. He'll have a longish career bumping around inside various clubs as a break glass option. I'd wager that by the time he's done, his game tally will be well short of 70 games.

Agree it was good to hear and the club could have its issues with him. But that would feed this all character no talent list bleed we’ve had since 2018

This is where no being able to trade player without their agreement is an out dated concept, if we already know Smith is gone next year but he's just going to play out the year we should be able to trade him wherever we want.
