Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

I miss the days when this board’s biggest concern was Brant Colledge being held out of the midfield

Thought Eagles were keen on Clay Hall at our second pick , 18s all Australian squad midfielder , seems an okay option .
Except supposed disposal issue but not sure on that point .
I thought the perception was he's pretty vanilla and that our second pick would be a fair reach?

This is the funny thing about the media & big footy

Harley Ried played 3 VFL games & averaged 19 disposals, 5 tackles and had 1 scoring shot

Clay Hall played 9 WAFL games & averaged 18 disposals, 3 tackles and had 9 scoring shots (4.5)

There 3 weeks apart in age & yet.

  • HR is talked as the 2nd coming of god
  • Clay Hall is some vanilla pick
Admittily, I never watch any games and only highlights on youtube. I'm also not saying Hall is as good or will be a good.

But lets put things into perspective & trust the people that do this for a living.

I do get the feeling that HR is touted so highly mainly due to developing earlier compared to his peers, def warming to splitting pick 1 provided pick 2 is involved.

So anyone then😂

Delean is exciting and could be around that mark and one I'd be happy with, as proper forwards are hard to come by.

Goad will go late IMO but we have Barnett so a ruck isn't likely a priority.
I am starting to think Barnett may be best served as a KPD as he played a load of his junior football as CHB. Maybe that takes the need off taking a KPD early this draft. Take Delean at our R2 and hope Goad to be there at Port’s R2. Fallback is ZZ at Port’s R2.

I think they all have something to offer by position. Barnett I suspect will end up being a forward/ruck. How'd is probably a touch early there but I'd like us to have a proper big ruck to develop. Like his 20m speed too.

Charlie Edwards has a lot of upside, Delean and Roberts best by position.

I like Morris.

You reckon he’ll get picked up by someone else if we don’t take him?

I don't know how deep the draft is. If the rumour is only 40 draftable players then idk.

Again I'm not stressing up whether or not players like clay hall slip to us or not.

But I'd pick him with one of our picks if that's there. At least he won't annoy me when he plays wafl league.

IMO 23 has to be on KPD whether it's zz or someone else.

37 we can pick up hall/Collard or whoever available

The player Hall reminds me most of as a junior is Patrick Cripps. Big inside midfielder who runs to the right spots on the outside and accumulates big numbers.

Hall will grow into his frame as well.

It seems in vogue for our fans to suggest shifting struggling ruckmen to KPD haha.

I'd have to see a lot more intent in Harry's playstyle to suggest he could get close to being a KPD prospect. Put a line through Jamieson for the same reason.

Very harsh call on Barnett above but after how highly touted he came into the club, his first year left me a little wanting tbh.

Completely agree with you on Jamieson but Barnett played CHB prior to his draft year and looked good

Agreed.

I'd love another pick around 23* (really think we should trade our F2 - targetting the Crows 20* or Blues 22*)

As mentioned 37 & 58 to the Gold Coast for GC pick 27 would be great

Leaving us with 1, 20*/22*, 23* & 27*

Harry will be one I'll keep a keen eye on next season, especially if the WAFL side improves. I want to see (and think we will see) a lot more.

I'm with you on this. JTR with first unless Godfather offer, work our way back in and up using F2 and combination of later picks.

We really should own this draft if done properly, even with all the Kangas gifts

Agreed, unless a highly rated midfielder slides which is unlikely. Schoenmaker for mine. Will be touch and go if he’s available but gee I’d love to see him and Buss if we can get him. Buss has excellent foot skills and Schoenmaker is the longest kick in the draft and watching them set up attacks from the back half would be glorious. Still big on trading with the Crows to pick up Windsor and DeMattia to add pace too.

Picks 37 and 58 are worth 653 points

The best we get from Gold Coast for those two picks is 32 and even that is a marginal upgrade of 69 points

We won’t get any of their picks in the 20’s

That’s true but add a F4 (mid 50s) for next year’s academy and I think a bit of goodwill both ways would suit both clubs in this draft.

Unless we say we’ll bid on Walter at pick 1 if they don’t trade it to us.

Clarko was smitten with him.

While that’s very true about Brockman, conversely what’s the guarantee that Collard even makes it?

Same / same IMO.

The Collard I watched in the second half of the Colts season I liked , his championships not so much

The highlights of Brockman playing AFL I liked too.

I ask you this, what are three to four most pressing needs as a team ?
List them In Order :

Then convince me that Collards acquisition fits in the high priority list.

You may well be right - but convince and reassure me that’s the best way to go.

Collard is a risk but also a potential high reward investment. A stock in a company that could skyrocket if it can turn a very promising prototype into a commercial (e.i.AFL 200 game player).

And in AFL terms a player good enough to be in your best 6 players in a grand final side. The olayer the opposition fear and plan for.

Collard isnt a small forward in stature, 185cm. How much he bulks up is unknown however a Mark Le cras size is a fair estimate.

He likely costs a late 1st that slides to early 20's.

Is pick 22 too much to invest in a potential high yeild, high performing stock? What else can we buy around pick 22?

Note: Collard kicking 10 goals has stirred the media, what a difference that has made. Clarkson showing interest is him playing 3D chess. More than one game as well.

We take Reid. North take Curtin with 3 and Collard with 18.
