Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

I see we're back at blaming injuries for our club demise again.

Nothing to do with list management, poor development, poor coaching, club decisions, lack of accountability and standards both on and off the field dropping.

It's actually all just a long string of unprecedented bad luck. Pencil us in for top 4 errbody ✏️

The fact the clubs has run such a total root over so many aspects of operations doesnt that infer we have plenty of improvement in the group, especially as it gets younger?

Some of that improvement can turn around quickly where other aspects will take time such as kids building AFL bodies and endurance.

Was pretty impressed with Pyke. His attitude was that across the board improvement in every aspect is the goal. Get that happening every year and results will come. Yes some areas get more focus than others but every player needs to keep improving in some aspect every year. Until father time catches up.

Positive approach and mindset.

Likely our pick 3 (next year) for Melbourne's pick 6 (this year) and pick 10 (next year) if it ended up that way would be OK.

I reckon this is one of the "live trade if Curtin slides to 6" scenarios.

Its a risk for sure.

However we de-risk it to an extent because we are the club bringing in a player we know the ranking of. Curtin.

Worse case Curtin and 2024 pick 18 for 2024 pick 1.

If same ladder positions Curtin plus 2024 pick 14.

Break even. Curtin plus Dees 2024 pick 10. For 2024 pick 1?

For me it’s F1(1),37 for 6,11,F1(14). Any future trade HAS to value the pick as pick 1. If we get a specific return that we have a plan for player wise based on that then I’m happy to trade it. If not we absolutely keep it.

F1 is the best or second best in the 24 Draft. Not to be frittered away on a possible 2023 top 10

Hey I like all the changes pal, it's all good stuff.

I just don't think it instantly transfers into on field success with a young team.

FWIW I'm sure 2024 will be a much funner season to sit through than the past 2 and a half years. Despite a likely low finish again.

I actually enjoy this part of the rebuild.

We get to watch kids turn into young men......or in Ginbey's case one preseason and he's a beast.

Then with tempered expectations we get to watch the kids come through and hopefully the old boys get a bit of a lift from the enthusiasm of youth. And stand up for them on the field and the group gels.

Nothing fires up old blokes more than protecting the kids coming through. It's an intangible driver that I feel some coaches understand better than others.

They need talls so bad. I would find this VERY funny if it happens.

Besides, we're trading F1 and taking McKercher at 2 🙂

You might if you get 6 11 F1. Three players in first round for one.

I’d 100% do that. The F1 likely gets offered to the dogs for Busslinger.

So F1 for Curtin, Windsor and Busslinger?

Absolutely.

There’s similar appealing options with GWS and Adelaide too.

Really? Elijah Hewett died and no one did a thing. The Dom Sheed made up some pathetic excuse

Agree. I think two KPIs will be percentage as well as the Beagles performing moderately well. If the latter happens it might be due to substantially less injuries meaning more … synergy … and more pressure for AFL spots.

It was great to see some of the senior boys stand up for for Hewett mid year when he got KOd by De Goey. The way they all rushed in and remonstrated to show they would protect their 18 year old teammate was admirable 👏🏽

Definitely fired up the team for the following week to lose to the Crows by 20 goals.

*I acknowledge I have some trust issues to work through with our senior players but remember that Gaff, Sheed and Darling are not Shuey, Redden and Nic Nat. Gov and Yeo I would back in to show some mongrel but sadly it might be young guys like Hewett and Reid that will be relied on to bring it through the midfield. Hopefully Flynn-sanity will throw his weight around at least.

Trust issues aside I too am excited to see some progress in this next phase of the rebuild.

How long until we take Reid? I have been waiting almost a year to get some optimism about the club.

Nissy gone, and Reid coming on board starting to look good again.
6 more days. Even the media will start to pivot and know that a hail Mary on draft day is dumb.

Then hopefully the media can shift to more important matters such as who is handing Harley Reid his jumper and have they considered booking Ben Cousins for it.

That's a good deal for us, I don't think Melbourne would accept it though, with the uncertainty of our future pick.

while we were historically bad this year, the tide can turn quick. Hell, everyone thought the Hawks would be historically bad this year and they were Atleast competitive and had some decent wins.

I’d give our F1 for 6/11/Dees F1. Would get us Curtain, plus probably a KPD (O’Sullivan) and still have the Dees F1 to use next season. If the club rates Curtain over the young mids of next season, why not?

11 Would blow out so we probably wouldn’t get O’Sullivan. We’d probably get Murphy but hopefully Windsor. Swans would also overpay for Murphy and only one pick behind us. Might offer their F2 and we take Windsor anyway similar situation to Port with Chesser.

You can't expect a huge jump in wins next year. First step is to stop the blow outs and turn the 100 point plus losses into 30 point losses and match the opposition for effort. When we get beaten, and we will get beaten a lot, it needs to be that we were beaten on polish and experience, not on effort and intensity. Trying to instill a never give up attitude into a playing group who mentally gave up in 75% of our games this year will not be an easy task for Simpson. I hope Pyke doesn't (and i doubt he will) cop having Simpson roll up to pressers and blame injuries for bad results where we clearly gave up and failed to match the other side for effort, and then suggest that the solution is to just wait until we get another couple of 32 year olds back from their latest injuries. Those days need to be over. Simpson must finally be held accountable for effort levels.

yeah im huffing on some good copium for sure lol.

Im expecting senior guys like Gov, Ryan, etc(not Yeo) to play 80%+ of the season, I dont think thats too much to expect. Entirely hinges on the injury list.
So McGovern who has averaged 11 games per season since 2020 you expect to play 80 % ?

The bloke is being paid 90k per game
