Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

Think if Yeo's overseas surgery is succesfull. Play him in the midfield with stints across halfback. If he breakdowns again it is sadly early retirement.

Duggan and Petch should also be trailed as midfielders in the pre season as well.

Even though I dont rate him there, I can see the club moving Duggan to the midfield permanently to provide a mature body. Or maybe even Cole.
100% this has to happen .

Cripps and Ryan also to the wing to get the ball moving to our forwards .

Culley may need to be that inside distributor or even look to bring in a mature big body inside mid as a rookie or SSP period

Jackson Hately was delisted from the crows for being a 1 dimensional inside mid .

We need that 1 dimension for a season or 2 just to take the pressure off the guys like ginbey and Hewett.

This guy could also be a good late national draft pick

So! No Reid playing mid ?
A fully fit Cripps can and has cameoed in the middle.
Duggan?
Hopefully we will see some “dare” return to Simmos coaching!
We are not Carlton. We don't smash our young draftees before they are developed physically. Shortens careers .

We played ginbey too much in the guts last year through dire need from injuries .

He ended up getting smashed pillar to post and finished his season early .

That’s a good story. He really didn’t, looked fine in there physically, got some valuable experience. Doing a hamstring also unrelated

Wouldn’t mind Hately with a clear 1 dimensional role. Would have to read him the riot act first on a one year deal. Culley and Duggan to rotate through as well but Yeo is the key. Don’t know where his body is at now but if he can play through there everything changes. I just hope the S&C team and coaches are realistic in that if he has to play defence to stay on the park then so be it.

Would also love to see Reid (rotating) and Maric playing deep and Oscar playing at CHF leading further up. We need him involved as much as possible when we expect the ball to be in our defensive half more often than not.

On a seperate note I’ve previously said we should at least consider Sharp. Ive changed my mind. Heard from multiple local sources that the bloke is an absolute tosser. i.e. a perfect fit for Fremantle.

No matter what the expectation is for us in 2024, if we are trading our F1 into this year’s draft, then the other team has the leverage.

If we trade F1 to GWS for Pick 7 to get Curtin, the absolute best we’ll get as well is a F2 or F3 to go with Pick 7. If the shoe was on the other foot I would expect us to demand the same.

I think we tried to manage his load, his TOG was the lowest on the team most weeks.

But like you said maybe a bit much out of necessity.

I think he would sit back at watch the first 12 months then make changes
This time next year i expect we will be looking for a new coach
I think the S&C staff and our list management should be in the firing line before the coach .

No coach was winning games with our putrid midfield

S&C are responsible for our massive injury lists but I also wonder how much the mineral resources park and optus surfaces are to blame .

List management needs questions asked about these bullshit long term contracts high $ contracts and also our lack of 22 - 26 year old mids . Putting all our eggs in the one basket of old players when players from Perth rarely have longevity after 30 .

Assuming we pick Reid he will play minutes in the guts! Guaranteed!

I think if we live trade on draft night yep, we get bent over. If we trade in this window before Nov 10. I think we’d get far more back and as long as that value is equal to (or greater than) pick 1 in 2024 then I reckon we should look at it.

I am totally against trading any future pick on draft night unless a team approaches us with an offer too good to refuse.

OOC . Could we lock Waterman in for a wing?
As to comments re OA to CHF I’ve said it for some time!
-Long kick
-Great mark
-Mobile
-Good decision maker.
-Heard an AFL commentator talking and he said some great FFs have an 11 out of 10 in their armoury. He said OA had a lot of 8s and 9s. Complete footballer.
Why would you want him getting smashed by the H Andrews of this world when he can turn them inside out up the ground with room to move.
BW can take the big boys at FF.
Hopefully Flynn will give us a presence in the guts.He won’t leap like BW but hopefully will give us some smash and grab at ground level.
Hewett and Ginbey have had exposure already. They don’t need mollycoddling.Reid is a man/child but he’s aggressive and won’t take a backwards step.TK in ripping shape,Yo hopefully will give us something,Petch showed bits,Cripps fit,Duggan,Culley, and dare I say it ;Sheed who generally lifts his game when he gets his arse severely kicked!
Have faith people,

So what do you make of simmo saying in pressers multiple times we would love to give ginbey a break but we just don't have any other players available?

Sure but we are talking about our midfield competing with other midfields . It will take more than 1 draftee for us to be competitive.

I just take a long term view of our rebuild no need to push these kids past their limits for a couple of extra wins .

I would be happy to have senior bodies in the guts and rotate the kids in and out .

Yeah this would be good, id like to see him turned into a swingman/utility, but winger could work too. I dont see him as a tall fwd prospect anymore tbh.

100%, if all BW does is crash a pack he will be fine at FF, with Brockman/Long types at his feet crumbing. Protects OA, he was pretty bashed up by the end of the year

Tbh I think with those 2 playing a pre-season as mid, with the expectation of playing up to 50% CBAs per game, our midfield wont be a complete disaster. Duggan was drafted as a midfielder after all.

Of course. Hence naming as many bodies as possible. But…the improvement is only going to come from da youf.Back them in but this year coming hopefully it’s not them that has to carry the load

So I’ve just read Hately AND XON signed for the Bombers VFL side almost a week ago…

In an ideal world the youf would be playing wafl or at least start on a wing or flank at afl level .

But yes they shouldn't be shouldering the load .

We need either our seniors to take the load or draft a mature body or two to shoulder the load .

The ' we don't have anyone else so let's use the kids ' doesn't fly and reeks of bad list management and coaching .

We had greg clark last year and barely used him as an inside mid

Who do we have as inside mids over 21 ?
Kelly , sheed and gaff ?

I recall it being the other way around actually.

He was asked this question a lot and said he was fine and that he loves it.

We've seen this story before with Brander. Player is good enough to play best 23, isn't quite good enough to play their natural position so we play them somewhere else. We've even done it with Waterman. On the wing, no less.

Waterman had a mini breakout at the beginning of last season with no JK. He is an AFL-calibre forward. Let him play forward at AFL level. Sure, trying to fit him, Maric, Culley, Williams x 2 and Reid alongside Allen and Darling will get a little crowded but there will come a time where we will have to give someone up to make another position better.

I just dont see why he would improve now, he turns 26 next year, and has only had a handful of good games. Sure hes solid enough, but if we are committing to a rebuild surely we should put more time into Maric or the Williams guys. Hes coming off a pretty serious illness too, I just dont see him being a future KPF for us.

The club gave him another contract on decent money so they obviously have some sort of plan for him. He wont be ahead of OA, Darling or a second ruckman in our fwd line, we will be too tall if we put him down there too
