Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

Hall just strikes me as the kind of guy who's absolute ceiling is a fringe best 25 guy, a player who can find a heap of ball in the WAFL but it doesn't translate to the AFL. A Kane Mitchell, Shane Nelson, Clark type.
I guess fine to have on the list for a bit as depth but do you deliberately draft that kind of player or do you go for someone riskier, who has a higher ceiling and may ultimately end up as a better AFL player?
Named starting in the midfield/wing in the AA U18 is a pretty good start if we can nab him with a late pick?

I suspect there will be better interstate talent available at our latter picks. WA weren't that impressive in the Champs from memory.

Yeah maybe but the WA boys tend to slide a little, so we tend to get good WA prospects in the middle rounds of the draft. Maybe someone slides for the 23 pick and ZZ slides to our 3rd if we’re lucky.

Wouldn’t be unhappy with a draft hall of
Reid
ZZ
Hall
O’Driscoll

Seeing only four draftees and only 2 picks in the top 30 just shouts not enough picks for me.

If we dont improve our draft hand to something better than that I'll be very disappointed in our inability to do what so many others are willing to risk.

Again, our inability to turn players over for picks hurts us, especially in a rebuild.

F1 to Adelaide!

What do you suggest we do?

Wow that is a surprise, didn't know you thought the club was rubbish and that we need to also sack the coach.

I was there at the clubs 1st game and I was at the G for our last premiership, also a paid up member, supported the club since day dot, and didn’t say the the club was rubbish. Pull ya head in!
I’m also a proud Australian it doesn’t mean you don’t criticise government for poor performance, heck in a democracy you even get get to vote them out when they’re crap.
I will never be a Simmo fan boi, I’ll leave that to you and other kindred spirits.

Likely our pick 3 (next year) for Melbourne's pick 6 (this year) and pick 10 (next year) if it ended up that way would be OK.

I reckon this is one of the "live trade if Curtin slides to 6" scenarios.

If Curtin makes it to our first pick I reckon a fair trade would be along the lines of our 2023 first pick (6) and our 2024 second round pick (attached to Syd), for your first next year.

Maybe some steak knives moving around as well - but anything significantly more than that would be too risky for us given you could easily move up a couple of spots and we could easily move down more than a couple of spots.

I think you guys would have to concede a little to secure your man and give us the risk. No doubt we’d prefer to take a kid now rather than wait 12 months - and we’ll be trading Petty out next year so should have a couple of good picks anyway.

According to the Melbourne board we won’t even get that!
Talk from our board that you’d need to give us something additional is silly. Not all posters think that.

I do think Curtin is a very good quality prospect though so in this scenario Melbournes risk needs to be acknowledged in any trade - I think we are in a position to take that risk though.

Our future first is 1 or 2. More likely pick 1. So unless we are compensated accordingly I would rather hold it and get value next year should be we decide to split or trade.
You’ve just got to think about Curtin’s value.

Would you take him with pick 2 or pick 3 this year?

If you would, then you can get your bird in the hand now and not have any risks next year.

If you wouldn’t, then that’s a pretty good indication that you’d be better off waiting and using your pick next year on another kid.

Personally, I think there could be a deal to be done if Curtin makes it to 6. I’ll be equally happy if we just pick him though.

You’d need to offer a similar deal to what you offered for Reid given in all likelihood it’s pick 1

Actually it'll be the other way around. Melbourne will be the ones with leverage in a live trade for pick 6, unless they happen to approach WCE about trading it first.

Where do you see him playing at AFL level?

Again, I guess that depends on how the clubs rate Reid.

Seems to me that he’s rated very high - like one of the stronger pick 1 prospects.

Add the risks mentioned above, and the postponed 12 months of development, I don’t think any club would rate your next years first pick in the same manner as they would for a known and secured Harley Reid.

If live on draft night absolutely, as I’ve said multiple times there’s no way we should live trade on draft night unless a club approaches us for that exact reason. Deal has to be done before draft night and our F1 should be valued at pick 1. Dees have showed us what they value pick 1 at with their offer this year.

Behind the ball with a bit of license to move off his man without necessarily being the main interceptor.

Looks like he is very versatile though, so certainly could end up forward or even in the middle at times.

I hope he gets settled in a position either way though - it’s kind of rare for the real guns to get thrown all over the place as a utility type.

Where do you see him?
