Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

Yes we did & Freo did as well.

1) make no.mistake he's going to be a player
2) means he is already in our system 12 months ahead of a #24 selection
2) local boy so we don't have the possible go home issue hanging over our heads
That’s funny because the information in here from some massive campaigners was that he was only a top 3 rated player because of the Vic media, didn’t know what position he wanted to play so we shouldn’t pick him up and the old classic, next years draft is way better anyway.

I’m glad you have cleared that up.

Well done on the draft I think a couple of the players selected may surprise a few in here. Fingers crossed.

The simple fix is halve the points value of picks outside the 1st round.

Would totally remove this BS trading out of the 1st round and paying with crap picks.

Very, very easy solution.

Then 2nd round picks would be worth more to keep and use. And to match bids in the 1st round clubs would need to keep their 1st rounders to pay the points.

No more double dipping after getting discounts. You want priority access AND a discount. Pay up with 1st rounders as the other picks simply won't generate the points needed.

Problem solved. And no club could argue its unfair as its a rule for everyone.

I don’t mind it.

Remove the 20% discount. That is obvious and needs to be done immediately.

Recalibrate the later picks. It may end up meaning that a player bid on at 25-30 needs similar or less collateral (pick #s rather than just points) than current, but that isn’t really the issue. It is the top 15-20 that cause angst.

No more ‘can live trade for a bazzilion picks on draft night regardless of list spots’. They are getting the benefit of jumping up the order, no further incentives should be applied.

I wouldn’t mind a penalty being applied to first round picks based on ladder position. Top 4 you need 15% additional points, top 8 10%, 9-14 5%, 15+ you match.

Open academies to all, maybe after top 10 (40+ is a joke, and first round is not all that different any more, could go 20+ but I think outside the top 10 is fair and a decent future transition point for ALL academies.)

If northern academies are really growing the pool (they aren’t) then it needs to become more commonplace that they can’t or won’t match prospects. Currently they just play pick confetti with later picks and care not what the ‘cost’ is.

Also need to say that F/S or academy picks cannot get the medal (lol) or the $10k at pick 1. Encourages bids without penalising the club/player relationship for the open-pool #1 pick.

It actually is complex which we laugh about…. But is even more compromised!

There is a romance to F/S selections that should stay but zones and academies in general should be booted.

Seeing as Moir and Collard were the last 2 picks in the 1st rd if Archer Reid had been taken earlier one of those 2 may have been snapped up.

We've got Arch now so let's welcome him. He's a big boy, get some muscle on him and watch out.

Curnow and co took a few years too

Never seen that Livingstone guy play but has Ben/Max King vibes.

Hopefully gets a crack in our land of the Giants

It took Josh Kennedy until his fourth season to kick double figure goals (31) in a season.

You know what I like most about Reid and Hall?

I can't imagine them not confronting someone like De Goey after that cheap hit against Hewett.

These young guys are going to change the current culture of the club and drag the old gumbies along with them.

(I may or may not have been incensed by spotting that incident on a video short just then. The lack of reaction was humiliating.)

Agree.... and hopefully they join Ginbey in ragdolling Serong for good measure when he starts puffing out his chest Suban style.

Sorry to intrude but there is a fair bit of curiosity around the WCE F1 deal that was being offered to GWS, crows and Essendon..has it been reported anywhere what the actual deal would have looked like for those clubs as some are just assuming it was not as simple as pick 8 (Curtin) for the F1. Thanks in advance.

Wouldn't halving the points mean they could still game the system and accumulate twice as many later picks for bid matching?

There's lots of issues, but the biggest issue, is pushing later round picks back.

The only way to ensure a pick doesn't get pushed back further is they must have (and use) a pick in the round taken.

This applies for academies and father sons. Compensation picks are a separate issue.

Would prefer AReid over Moir anyway.

Not sure it's been reported.

Best guess it was our F1 and probably a second rounder (either this year or next), for GWS/Crows/Bombers first this year and their F1 next year.

Thanks for the insights BOND 007, much appreciated!

Can you talk us through trading our future 3rd to move up 2 spots to secure Hall - did you have intel that the bombers were keen? or just don't put much value in a future 3rd?

Phil has pretty much confirmed Bombers were going to take him unless we made that move

Hi Eagles Fans

I come in peace and well done on picking a very likely Superstar up. Unless you got 2 and 3 from Kangas it seemed the only option. Genuinely hope he plays his career out with your club.

Debating on the Crows board what a complete and utter joke the Northern Academies are (GCS 4 first rounders this draft alone at 20% discount from MASSIVE zones inc NT, where as other clubs like Eagles couldn't even match a NGA player around pick 30 despite putting years of development in, and Crows have only ever had 2 very marginal players in our NGA academies play a handful of games in total). Its a complete and utter joke and needs to be reined in I feel (as does the Herald Sun article today discussing same issue and many clubs were thinking about boycotting even bidding for the GCS Academy players as a protest..)

Anyway, with your local 'intel' (we had some excellent, respectful Eagles posters on our board leading up to the draft discussing an Eagles/Crows pick swap ultimately for what would have been the Curtin pick), does anyone have solid intel about what Eagles offered the Crows for this GWS pick where we acquired Curtin? I thought it may have just been been a straight F1 for the pick (Curtin) whereas others on our board believe you wanted either our F1 and/or our pick 14 which we packaged up to GWS to get the Curtin pick

Genuinely unsure of what deal was offered and any insights much appreciated. I personally would be a little surprised if it was a straight swap of Curtin for your F1 why we didnt seriously think about accepting it as Crows are needing elite mids next year and SA's Sid Draper is a likely top 5 player meaning your likely F1 may well have been very handy next year

Anyway guys, genuinely wish you the best in your rebuild. Perhaps your first complete rebuild ever like the Crows have recently had 2019-now. As much as finals are probably not on the agenda in the short term there is a great amount of satisfaction adding lots of quality youngsters and seeing them develop together over a few year period (and also frustrations where you miss out on players like Collard..). As the leagues most dominant financial club with a truly successful track record (which many crows fans are envious of with our clubs similarities) it wont be many years before you are contending again and try and enjoy the rebuild journey until then.

All the best, cheers
