Yeah, maybe all clubs like them do this with all top end players but heard fairly reliably, if hardly first hand, that Eagles have done a lot of work on Jagga, all year.
Unconvinced that pick 3 is an easy get, though obv hope we get it
Fair enough, but I would expect a club like WCE to be putting a lot of work in to the whole top 10, not knowing exactly what pick you will have until later in the season and you never know what deals will come up.
Yes 3 will be hard to get as you ate still right at the pointy end in a very even draft, which is why I think we need to get pick 6 off GC early in the piece so we can use it with WCE for Baker, with some later picks involved.
We may not get the deal, but 6 still gives them a very good look at a quality player, possibly a local kid as a bonus.
Only thing to that is maybe we don't rate that swap highly enough, in that we may still be very content with the player available to us at 6 anyway.

So JG walks for nothing and AFL give us no compo

Twomey thinks 9 and 16 which will end up being like 12 and 19 are enough for Bolton

Why does every AFL personality want us to always get unders for everything?

Bolton for 9, 16 and next years 1st rounder or they can **** off

With the news of Mini getting the job and Baker his good mate choosing West Coast and now he is flying to Perth, he is more chance picking West Coast, that's why he is flying over.

I love our club, but the Eagles facilities are first class, this isn't like a trip to Alberton.
He may be doing a physical while there (this could be the problem, probably do a hammy while walking up the stairs to get there) also.
WC might need to tick off a thing or two like this at their end also.

i reckon 9,10 and 17 should be the quota

Why are the AFL giving us nothing? Even band 5 compo is pick 40 which is useful for us in trades to give other teams points.

I'd be happy to pay some of Boltons $$$ for two reasons

1- It secures us 9 & 10 (plus any semantics around later pick swaps if needed)
2- With the likelihood of having 5 new draftess, along with the 5 we go two years ago, paying some of Bolton's $$$ will go along way to hit the min salary cap requirements without having to overpay the kids

We're not getting anything for Graham

Just to clear up some queries:

An unrestricted free agent (Graham) and restricted free agent (eg. Gresham) deliver the same in compensation - the only difference is a club can match the contract of a RFA and retain them, but a club cannot match and try to retain an UFA. If a club matches a RFA offer, it’s then up to the club to trade for that player.

This is what happened with Jezza to Geelong. GWS matched the RFA offer from Geelong so Geelong had to trade for him.

So we will 100% get compensation for Graham. There are 5 x bands of compensation:

Band 1: immediately after club’s first pick (so North got pick #3 for losing B McKay)

Band 2: immediately after end of first round.

Band 3: immediate after club’s second pick.

Band 4: immediately after end of second round.

Band 5: immediately after club’s third round pick.

So we will get band 3 or band 4 for Graham. It’s based on length of contract, total dollars etc… plus the AFL’s ‘herbs and spices’.

So if Dusty leaves we won’t get anything as his length of contract and dollars won’t be big enough for compo.

If we get band-3 (pick 22) we will have made out like bandits, as it also frees up $500k from the salary cap, and whilst Graham is a handy player, he’s not what we need during a full blown rebuild.

Cause their 'rules' are made up on the spot and the afl will never do anything to favour Richmond

So watch us get reemed

This is how it should go down

We end up with picks 1, 6, 8, 9, 12, 13, 18, 21

Trade 1 - 5 way trade

Brisbane get picks 26, 27, 28 & 39 (Graham compo)
Brisbane lose pick 18 and their future first.

Fremantle get Bolton, pick 20 and Richmond’s future 3rd
Fremantle lose pick 9, 10, 27 and a future 2nd

GC get Rioli, pick 29, Brisbane future first and Fremantle future second
GC lose picks 6, 12, 20 & 26

Essendon get picks 10, 39, 41 & 47 to Essendon lose picks 8 & 28

Richmond get picks 6, 8, 9, 12 & 18
Richmond lose Bolton, Rioli, picks 29, 39 (Graham compo), 39, 41 & 47.

Trade 2

Baker for pick 13.

Remember Taranto was picks 12 and 19 and he was UNCONTRACTED.

Don't believe the media spin of Richmond accepting 9 and 16 which coincidentally will become the same as Taranto after bids on draft night.

Richmond won't even entertain these discussions unless the opening offer is 9+10 for a player contracted until 2028.

and that Bolton is a lot better than taranto

We want Bolton to nominate a team
Both WA teams have good picks and future picks
If he nominates them it puts pressure on them to get the deal done
You do not want players nominating you and not being able to get there! its a shocking example for future players who are considering your club
