Would be very interested to know if the Blues would be looking at Finlayson back in a third tall role down back. Played there early in his career and was a very good for the giants with lethal foot skills off half back. Stagnated the last few years playing as a link up key forward but has a huge ceiling and would provide a better KPD chop out than Mcgovern or Plowman

Conditional player.

We have enough blokes who can look great when it's all downhill but struggle when the going gets tough. Parks and Williamson (and Marchbank) are worth persisting over someone like that. We know enough about Finlayson now (25) to know what we would be getting and it would be a no from me, even if he was free.

I don't mind the idea. Proven he can cut it at the top level and a knack for kicking goals. Much prefer it to a roll of the dice on Brander or Riccardi.

Pretty average, medium sized accumulator type who doesn't accumulate it that much.

He's basically a role player that is 2nd string midfielder and doesn't have many outstanding traits. Think he may be able to do a defensive job.

Finlayson is a solid player. Like anything, depends on price.

I think we have enough elite talent in our talls - Weiters, Curnow, McKay, TDK and lack one A grade mid (I think you need 3).

What we need is players 8-22 to get a lot better. So more B/B+ type players.

I don't think the Dees, Richmond etc were chock full of stars on every line like say Geelong or Brisbane premiership sides. They have 5-8 A graders and then everyone else is B/B+. We need that best 22 depth

I don't think we are a top 6 midfield, but I am not sure we are far off the 6-10 range. We need to push 4-6 and rely on our backline and forwardline being top 2-3

One decent game here and there doesn't make the player, have a look at his body of work.

Couldn't agree more that our midfield is poor, but Dumont isn't going to get us anywhere. Bog average.

They are normally the ones we chase, its a historical fact lol. Had a good game against CFC ... recruit him lol

To be fair, Austin might be struggling to find spots for them as well. Newnes probably safe because of the trigger he supposedly hit, but not sure Gibbo or Cotts go around again.
