To be fair, Austin might be struggling to find spots for them as well. Newnes probably safe because of the trigger he supposedly hit, but not sure Gibbo or Cotts go around again.

I think a number of players are in the gun due to contract status rather than pure rankings

AFL site has linked us with Lewis Young from the Doggies, looking at a potential move out. 202cm KPP and only 22.

“Carlton looms as one potential candidate for Young as it searches for key position depth. Ruckmen Tom De Koning and Marc Pittonet are signed for next season, while 210cm mid-season draftee Alex Mirkov presents as more of a development option in 2022.”

I thought Lewis Young had mostly played as KPD and has only played ruck because Stef Martin is as old as a dinosaur and Tim English is almost as useful as one in the ruck...

Mod Notice:

Can we please...PLEASE not post links to bullshit Twitter rumour accounts - including the Trade Whisperer - who in 5+ years has never got even 1 thing right?

It makes our lives a hell of a lot easier and we do not need to give an audience or additional platform to these bullshit accounts.

Thanks

Yep in the last three games Young played this season he got slaughtered by Lycett, Draper and McInerney.
I’d much prefer us to target Ladhams.

Young was a forward at junior level, but shifted back by the Dogs, can play both ends. Reasonable level of mongrel

Looks okay. Would come from a successful system. Younger Casboult replacement who would hopefully be able to mold into our FB. Pair with Weiters over off-season and off he goes.

No idea of value. Maybe a 3rd rounder.

Will be interesting to see where he plays if we recruit him. Pick 61 would get it done

From what I've seen he's not really a key defender...seems to get ragdolled a bit and not sure he has the craft. But he could develop into a Jones replacement.

We need KPP depthwho aren't kids. Hes in a good winow of age, experience and likely cost. Heaps of upside and development to come.

No issue with Young. 23 years old, 5 years in the system, versatile tall.

Don't expect wonders but would be cheap and can provide cover across the park. Very much a young Levi replacement, minus the contested marking. From what I've seen he's a very decent intercept mark though.

It's actually a smart piece of talent identification by the club. Fills a need, won't cost much, has been in the system a while now and may not get much opportunity given the talls the Dogs have and will be bringing in.

Conditional player.

We have enough blokes who can look great when it's all downhill but struggle when the going gets tough. Parks and Williamson (and Marchbank) are worth persisting over someone like that. We know enough about Finlayson now (25) to know what we would be getting and it would be a no from me, even if he was free.

Didn’t realise he was so young

Bit of an oxymoron, struggling to find spots for the likes of Newnes and Gibbons, but we cling to hoping one or more of the kids breaking through.

Sides at our level are picked on output, not potential. If a kid has similar output as one of the older foot soldiers, pick them

oxymoron? Odd choice of word. Bad choice.

Who's clinging to hope?

You perhaps?

It's just the laws of probability.

Would be very interested to know if the Blues would be looking at Finlayson back in a third tall role down back. Played there early in his career and was a very good for the giants with lethal foot skills off half back. Stagnated the last few years playing as a link up key forward but has a huge ceiling and would provide a better KPD chop out than Mcgovern or Plowman
Be a good fit for Brisbane

No thanks, rather have Lewis Young and put the time in to continue to develop him as a key back and eventually take over from Jonesy

Like, Ladhams has played 32 games.

Apparently he's no good because Grundy towelled him up in his 21st AFL game.

It's funny that we can play the young/inexperienced card with our own players but opposition players should only be judged on their body of work, not their potential.

I see a lot of potential in Ladhams. He's by no means there yet but he is still extremely inexperienced for a big man, and still 3-4 years away from hitting his peak. So many rucks take huge strides forward at about 26yo, I don't think we've seen anywhere near the player he might become. Yes, you could apply that same logic to Pittonet, but I really haven't seen in Pitto anywhere near the "glimpses" of ability that Ladhams has shown.

I think he's definitely worth taking a punt on with a second-rounder. Let's face it, we will probably suffer injuries to our talls at some stage next year, and another ruck-forward is a position of need with Casboult departing. Would not hurt De Koning's development in the slightest to have another big guy to share the ruck load with over the course of a long season. De Koning-Ladhams is much more versatile and threatening than De Koning-Pittonet imo.

As others have said, if there are any off-field issues Voss will know about them, so if we do pursue him then that rules those rumours out.

Yep have suggested the same. what better than one developing ruck? (TDK) Two of them. (Ladhams and TDK) Ladhams I think he'd be a good pick up for us.

Can we draft THIS guy ? Inside mid, bit of mongrel, proven form, loves the contested stuff, could get him cheap

And de-list THIS guy ? Only interested in signing autographs, plays too close to the boundary, bit of a show pony, contract's been renewed too many times.

Going to the couple of games this year, I cringed when my daughter says "Damn our mascot sucks, Dad !!". I tend to agree.

Well we just employed the one block who would know Latham best. If Vossy likes/wants him, we should know soon enough. Not sure myself, but happy to be proven wrong.

Depends on cost and what else is available.
Doesn't he want to go back to SA for family reasons?
Read that it’s an open market. She lived in Melbourne and has relo’s in QLD also. Just not much support base in NSW. Happy wife, happy life - though I have had a few ewes in my time. Eyeing off an Alpaca currently - keeps the foxes away from the flock.
