Only way I’d be happy with our first for Taranto rather than pick 19 for Hopper is if we manage to package 19 and our second into an earlier pick but I’m not sure too many clubs would go for that

Need to get creative put a big name on the table and get are few more picks. Is one of Taranto or Hooper really going to put us in the premiership window with our retirements and aging stars I say no.

We have so many half backs and outside mids we would be silly not to.

Two or three of Vlastuin, Martin, Short, Kmac, Graham, Pickett should be considered if clubs come knocking, and the price is right.

Taranto is level above Hopper, therefore he is going to cost us more than Hopper in both picks and dollars. Be happy with either in our mid group. If a few of our old crew retire, the money will be there.

No way I'm trading next years first, as I believe we'll finish lower on the ladder than this year as we continue to rebuild.

I think we can do better next season. Dusty back. A pre season in the midfield for Short and Baker. One of Hopper/Taranto.

It's funny you say that. As I was leaving Marvel on Friday I was chatting to a random suit walking out of corporate and he was adamant we are getting Taranto and Hopper. Completely unreliable source but the talk is getting stronger.

I could just as easily see us drop down the ladder next year as maintain our position and challenge for finals

Only way of getting both is Backend contracts for one of or the unthinkable.

That’s harsh, our best tackler and one of our hardest runners.

Assuming Brisbane end up top 4, perhaps they might entertain trading their first pick ~#16 (~1050pts) + 3rd round ~#50 (~250pts) for our picks ~#22 (~840pts) + ~#30 (~600pts).

Nets them an extra 150-ish points to use on Ashcroft, and us another first rounder. Brisbane definitely won't want to have that 1st rounder tied up in the Ashcroft deal if they can upgrade it's points value.

Of course, if Hopper and Taranto are seriously in the mix this would not be as imperative. Or maybe those acquired Lions 1st + 3rd rounders for Taranto? Gets us Taranto without losing our 1st round pick, which is looking like #8 or #9 now.
