We need to either keep 31 or get something back from GWS this year...

Then try and package up 2 or three picks to Brisbane to move up the draft order, they will need points, not necessarily draft position with two FS/Academy selections this year

I feel bad for the Ivan soldo fanclub account on instsgram . He does good content and is pretty upset with Ivvy likely leaving.

That deal was done 3 hours ago. AFL is staggering announcements like they have been all week.
Have to keep the fans engaged. Plus it also depends on when the clubs finally submit their paperwork.

And they already have a host of good young players.

Bit spooky if they can get them to hang around this time

They hardly do and then overpay when they do. We will raid them again and thank them for their development program. Maybe buy them a nice seafood dinner.

I’m really hoping the Hopper deal goes through today, however I’m also hoping that if Soldo is part of it that he hasn’t been forced out. It sucks being forced out of anything you enjoy. :(

Richmond are a very respectful club who looks after their players. Soldo won’t have been pushed out against his will. If he said I have zero interest in going, I want to stay here no matter what even if it means I play VFL every week then Richmond would have taken him off the table.

But I said this weeks ago and got howled down by many ….. he’s a professional footballer who wants to play AFL, not VFL. In 2023 he doesn’t play unless Nank gets injured. And there’s every chance Ryan was to go past him next season.

If Soldo spends another year in VFL then his opportunity to extend his career beyond this contract at a juicy dollar figure diminishes, and he becomes just another ‘back-up’ ruck who ends his career on 145 games playing his last 5-years on $180k/year second rate deals.

This is his chance to lock away a number one ruck spot and forge a great career for his remaining 5-7 seasons. It may not work out, but he’s not
stupid and he’s a better chance at GWS than sitting behind the CAPTAIN at Richmond.

So good luck to him and it’s a great career move in his own interests. I’m certain he’s not getting shoe horned out of the club against his will.

All good points. I rate him and wanted to keep him because he’ll play - Nank will miss weeks next year IMO with the way he plays and Soldo would have been good back up.

Oh well. Like you said good luck to him. He’s a club life member hope he does well. Just not against us.
