Hopper is a good player, but he is FAR from elite. He played 7 games this year, averaged 18 disposals, chronic injuries. Neutral supporters even agree that he is only worth a future 1st..which mind you could be a top 12 pick. There is no guarantee we will make top 4, let alone top 8. If we were generous, maybe a future 2nd thrown in as the sweetner.

Taranto deal really should have been 12 and 30. We should have kept 19. Pick 19 is the coveted first pick of 2nd trade day which many clubs will offer a 1st round pick for it.

Believe it or not, we Actually hold the cards. Salary dump, player requested to leave. We are always the too nice guys at the trade table and it's literally burning ourselves out of 2 drafts in a row.

in my mind, Taranto can be an absolute star and probably worth the contract, and picks. Hopper is a massive risk at 7 years with his injuries, and GWS want us to sell the farm for him. You got the lions only offering a first round pick for Dunkley, who is arguably a better player than Taranto, and a FAR better player than Hopper. Based on Richmond's logic, he would be worth two top 10 picks.

If this trade deal doesn't go through by 5 today, my God this thread and board is going to be a total shitshow over the weekend.

8 hours to go and counting......

Nothing new has been said in this thread in the last 4 days!!!! I’ve lost count of how many millions of pages that is

That’s assuming that Martin, who will be 32 next year will remain injury free and will be anything like the force he once was. Yes one can hope, but assuming that we will see anything like the Dusty of old is not money in the bank.

Just on the balance of the deal - People really need to get their head around the fact that their are no winners or losers in trades during trade week any longer. There might be retrospectively after time plays out and players under or over preform but at the time, clubs want to create fair deals where both sides win. Screwing one club over a deal means you develop an unwanted reputation to all clubs across the league and hinders potential trades for years to come. The reason why we have attracted Hooper and Taranto is because of our culture and recent success but also because clubs know that we will work with us to get a fair deal done.

This means we are an attractive destination for both players and clubs. We won three flags because of the contributions of Prestia, Lynch, Houli, Grigg, Caddy, and Nank. Lets hope this trade period helps win us a few more!

I respectfully disagree. CCJ for 19 was one of the biggest wins you will see.
I understand he was a pick 18 ect but was a big win IMO and I said it at the time not with the benefit of hindsight.

However in general you're correct, most trades balance out and only look bad for one side if a superstar or complete dud is drafted to sway the trade.

Has Dunkley been traded? Because from what I can tell, he hasn’t gone for any picks.

Loungelizards 2019 flag thread?
'The Bulldogs want two first-round selections, and Brisbane is only willing to send their current top pick (No.21) and their 2023 first-rounder if they get 30 and 39 back.'

Tanner Bruhn being traded for 'THIS' Years pick #18 is a good thing , The Giants now have too many picks this year and will be looking to move up this year but more importantly will be wanting a future pick and thats where our offer for hopper lies.

Would be fantastic to get the deal done without #31 being involved and only for Soldo +F1
