Coincidence, no sign of Groupie or Magic this morning....

Perhaps cuddled up listening to the rain outside....

Hopper has been a long time coming. We first had a crack in 2017, then a more serious inquiry in 2020 and we've finally landed him this year. For those that think we might walk away, you'll be sorely disappointed.

I did hear something interesting about GWS. Whilst we are done pillaging them this year, there's a very good chance we go back in 2023 to pick at the carcass. The salary cap pressure won't be relieved with just this off-season. Taranto and Hopper, particularly Taranto are very popular figures at the Giants and should we have a strong year next year, which we will, a further bargaining chip would be Taranto and Hopper telling their former teammates just how good Tigerland is and will be.

We aren't getting any decent draft picks for the next two years so I hope the recruits perform.
I think we are also banking on all of last years crop to be all quality.
I don't like it that Dunkley goes for less draft picks than Taranto but if we win a flag it's worth it.
Agree, can’t worry overly about what other clubs do, sure have a watch but as a club we need to run our own race, we will pay what we need to to get the deals done with minimum fuss and reflect market value

Wonder if they’d give us a better pick/s back in the Hopper deal if we payed some/all of Soldo’s wage for the next two years (he was/is contracted to us for the next 2 years).
I think you're 'on the money' here and I was about to post something similar.

Firstly, our negotiations would have centred around keeping all players on the list and Soldo's/Graham's contracts would have been budgeted for. Secondly, GWS don't have the cap room to take on Soldo's contract given they are moving 2 (4) good players on to save around $1.5m. Thirdly, we've come up a little short with our draft capital so we've had to add a player and it looks as though this has been a last minute adjustment to the negotiations, although discussions may have been held with Soldo/Graham beforehand.

I reckon that we'll be paying whatever the amount of Soldo's contract that is above the rookie wage as that is what GWS would be budgeting for when losing 4 players and replacing them with rookies.

What all that means with regards to the pick coming back is anyone's guess.

Getting two potential guns in the door in one trade period has really never been done. This is quite an effort, massive actually in how we are pulling it off.
What we are paying price wise (mid to late first rounders) is nothing compared to what we have done here.

We're strong and we're bold

lol. Sam Edmund. Tarryn Thomas wants a trade

Tarryn Thomas. I don’t want a trade

Getting ridiculous

Thomas did want a trade, just not publicly. Clubs saw how much he was on and said no thanks, so he has to stay.
