Close but Luke Ball was picked up in the national draft. Collingwood effectively gave up pick 30 in addition to meeting his pay demands.

Yeah not disputing or writing Brown off at all just seems like we’re stacked for half backs and it wasn’t an area of need at the time. He looks a beauty too

Biggie/Miller have been thrown around everywhere in the vfl so I guess we’ve got great flexibility with our talls on the list as evident by Millers second half of the year in the 3rd forward/2nd ruck role! The only issue is that they’re not natural forwards like Jack/Lynch but can fill a role. Sampson is the exciting prospect but losing Soldo means we’re gonna need him as a ruck more then a forward now.

I just loved watching Van Rooyen in the vfl finals and think they have an absolute gem in an area we could use once Jack retires! He’s that natural forward type which we’re lacking. Hopefully Gibcus could develop into that player cause he has all the traits and while Tarrant and Grimes are around we have a chance to trial it next year! We can’t play Balta/Tarrant/Gibcus/Grimes/Broad down back every week as I think it’s unbalanced, so I hope we give it a shot next year!

Its got nothing to do with disagreeing. As you said, everyone has a different opinion, and they are entitled to have that and i respect that but there is no need to post the same differing opinion, 20 times a day, every day. We know what their opinion is and thats fine but theres no need to constantly ram it down our throats, or bag out the club and its employees.
And if we don't win a premiership then so be it, at least we didnt die wondering.

I don't really care about overpaying a little especially with our recent use of first rounders other than Gibcus (Dow, RCD, Higgins etc)

But it is a bit concerning how players we've traded out go for peanuts but we're willing to go a little over to bring players in. I wonder if our negotiation tactics are just no good.

I've changed my opinion on this over the years.
To me, drafting and trading is now so much more about managing salary cap than the value of picks lost or gained via trades.

You can only afford so many A-graders on your list.
We have Cotch, Dusty, JR, Vlastuin, (hopefully Gibcus & Balta) via early draft picks, Lynch via free agency, Bolton via mid-draft pick, Prestia via reasonably expensive trade. (Incredibly rough, lazy counting of A-graders on my part here).
Happy enough for Tarranto & Hopper to come in via trades as well. They should be close enough to A-graders (taking A-grade salaries at least).

The latest is that in round 1 2023 at the opening bounce we will have Nank, Cotch, Prestia and Taranto in the guts, after we kick the opening goal in record time the next centre bounce will see Nank, Dusty, Bolton and Hopper in there with Macca and Pickett scouting the wings

And strolling down to the forward line will be Jack and Tom followed by Dusty and Bolts with MRJ and Cumbers making up the six.

And going down back will be Taz, Balta, Broady, Grimes with Rioli and Flossy joining them.

Jesus Christ have i missed anyone, Bakes, Shorty, Graham, Gibbo, Miller, Ralphsmith, George, Ross, Sonsie, Mansell, Clarke, Stack. **** find a 5 man bench out of that.

Agree to a point but wouldn’t be losing sleep about trading it either

If on draft night we see someone still on the board and we want them we can always trade back in with the live trading of a future pick

Not sure we can if we give up our f1 for hopper

You can always trade back into the draft if you want picks
Hopper is a known quantity and guaranteed to play every week

Remember lads and ladettes and the other ones, getting 2 gun mids effectively removes the only genuine weakness in our structure. We bow out of a couple of drafts yes, but we basically make the team ******* bullet proof. The team we put out on the field next year will be the strongest side I've ever seen in the yellow and black and yes I do have an erection as I'm typing this.

Sorry but a side without George isn't going far in finals.
Without him we don't get past week 1.
