If we believe Smillie is a ‘safe’ pick then we definitely should swap it for 2 x high picks. I’m not interested in ‘safe’ at pick #1. Andrew McGrath was a ‘safe’ number 1. Bruce Gibbs was a ‘safe’ #1. Neither of them hand any outstanding attributes, whether it be speed, power, marking ability, skill etc… and history says they were just good to very good players. You can get ‘good’ at pick 7, 12 or 40.
If we are not pretty certain Smillie or JOS are going to be absolutely elite, swap the pick.
If we are confident one of those two will be elite or excellent players, then keep it.
It’s as simple as that for me. Whilst there are no guarantees with any pick, I don’t want us to play it safe and take Smillie at #1 if we knew all along he was just a ‘safe’ pick who had nothing absolutely elite in his kit bag.

How much can the Blues offer? I was under the impression they were struggling juggling the cap to keep their own players let alone offer a large lucrative contract for a free agent.
Not many will be Reid in any draft -he'll be the Dusty/Judd stratosphere but Walsh is still a bonafide gun.walsh was a safe pick, he aint no Reid

I'm saying they're in the same elite of the elite group of players of this century along with Buddy & Ablett and anyone who thinks otherwise has no business sharing their opinions on football with the general public...You are comparing Dusty to Judd??

Never said he wasn't....Dusty is better than Judd FFS and who know how high Reid goes

What a crap comment. Grimes is a great of our club and deserves to retire on his terms. We already had four picks and only used two. The only thing that sucks is you as a supporter !
He is not Hobbs. A better comparison would be Tom Green. You wanted Hobbs....
Well your posts have been crap for years but you still keep going boring us to death with your tripe. If you retire I am sure Grimes will out of respect as well for being such a wonderful supporter. No one deserves to go out on their own terms when the house is literally on fire.
Look at Biden. He has done way more in life than Dylan Grimes. Reckon that husk of a bloke should be allowed to keep running for President out of "respect" for yesterdays papers?
The club is ****ingfalling apart and you think we are in a position to worry about mindless legacy shit? Grimes is f-ing cooked. He will get paid either way. SunshineBoy is 100% right - he needed to retire before the MSD so we could have another bite at the cherry.
If you stay in the fire too long - you are cooked. And both Grimes & Biden are f-ing cooked AF

You really don't like Taranto do you?I am not sure what Tim Taranto is thinking?
There is no way RFC is incentivised to destroy our list because there is only so much talent we can draft in one year and we can trade cap space for draft picks as well.
We can't have a heap of new draft picks fighting over each other for a game like they may have had at GWS either
I understand he is an unlikely pick 1 or 2, but we need to get creative to land this kid aswell. He and FOS project as a formidable combo.Speaking of Lalor -
Sam Lalor: The powerful goalkicking mid likened to Dusty by his coach
Sam Lalor is a powerful goalkicking midfielder who possesses a wicked shrug, and was likened to Dustin Martin by his GWV Rebels coach. It's little wonder he's soaring up draft boards, writes Jasper Chellappah.www.espn.com.au
Yeah I agree. Smillie/FOS + Lalor and a KPF is dream scenario.I understand he is an unlikely pick 1 or 2, but we need to get creative to land this kid aswell. He and FOS project as a formidable combo.
100%, its almost negligent of the club not to identify this. Or maybe behind the scenes they have, we dont leak much nowadays.Yeah I agree. Smillie/FOS + Lalor and a KPF is dream scenario.
Brisbane lucked out hard getting 2 elite juniors as F/S...We rate Ashcroft as the best kid in the draft.
Sign me up for this, I don't care what else happens at the draft if this is what we land!Yeah I agree. Smillie/FOS + Lalor and a KPF is dream scenario.
