Re: trade rumour/innuendo/fact/fiction KII

Its funny practically every poster has said that Grigg is shit and yet the Blues were quite keen to resign him and are seemingly disappointed to be losing him.

Also if the club is truly chasing guys like Sherman Grigg and Houli then they must rate their disposal if they are sticking by the mantra of only good ball users will be targetted.

For the record Grigg had a disposal efficiency of 72.5% last year from his 178 disposals. That would have seen him ranked 11th at Richmond for disposal efficiency, which is a better % than Deledio Cotchin Connors Martin Morton Cousins & Collins, who are all players that posters here rave about when it comes to having great looking kicks/disposal.

As for turnovers, he averaged 6.1 which would have also seen him ranked 10th at Richmond behind guys like Deledio Cotchin Connors & Martin

Finally he averaged 9.6 contested possessions, which would put him top 5 at Richmond for that stat behind Cotchin Martin Jackson & Tuck.

Like I said if Hardwick and co are chasing the kid they obviously rate him.

Im thinking along the same lines as you RT, Im getting the feeling that the club has got a group of players around the 24 and under age group and believe they fit a need at the club to maybe allow a few kids to develope at the Burgers.

Im not the greatest fan of Grigg and Houli but i must admit ive got so much more faith in Dimma and Ladey and Leppa etc than i ever did when trade week came up during Wallaces era, so by all means if they end up at the club then im happy to back Dimma in!

P.S.......Get Sherman before anyone else :thumbsu:;)

Re: trade rumour/innuendo/fact/fiction KII

Grigg probably has the same upside as Sherman but we can land him via the PSD.

I remember him tearing us a new one in a game...can't remember when though

Re: trade rumour/innuendo/fact/fiction KII

Given this news, i wouldnt be suprised to see the opinion on either of those players change. I dont know what your second pick is, but i assume that would be around the mark. Given you hold all the cards here, you wont need to give that up. I severly doubt a deal will be done early. If we dont land a KP backman in the first 5 days a straight swap for Thursfield could be fair. I think if we dont get offered a pick lower than 38ish or an ok player we will hedge our bets, not trade him, trey and convince him to stay (whether that mean giving a pay rise or not) and if we cant, let him slide into the PSD. Really a pick in the 40's in this years draft wont mean to much to us, so im sure we just take our chances of him reconsidering.

Maybe he might be off to the suns. Because if the suns have spoken to him as well then id doubt we would match there offer, because we wouldnt be offering much and the suns wouldnt need to offer any picks. Gary Ablett needs protection and brennen going to it will help.

Cloke if the Pies the dont win a flag will be gone i believe, he has been offered 600k to move to the suns while Collingwood have offerred to take a cut, i beleive we have offered him 500k.

a whisper, tambling to the dogs
everitt to carlton
pick 18 to richmond

Nathan Djerrkura will be traded to the dogs as well.

It's interesting that they have targetted guys like Sherman and Grigg. While these guys aren't great kicks Dimma must really want guys who can find the ball and who can break the lines. He must be looking to continue the long kicking style into the forward line hoping for a mark or to lock the ball in. Perhaps good kicks to a lead from players who opperate in the front half of the ground just aren't as important these days as forward lines are so crowded it's more important to just get it in and lock it in?

Pretty sure Carlton have already come out and said no deal to Everitt for pick 18. VERY VERY UNLIKELY IMO

Re: trade rumour/innuendo/fact/fiction KII

Ps: Grigg would be worth it just to see if he can dominate rnd 1 and piss all the blues fans right off for bailing in the PSD. IDEAL SCENARIO

Word is Amcre that the Blues are keen on everitt but they knocked back an offer of a straight swap for Walker!

I thought the same thing too until i read further into the article!

Re: trade rumour/innuendo/fact/fiction KII

Thank **** lots of you aren't our list managers.

Grigg averaged over 20 touches a game, half of them contested is a big body and young. If we get Grigg for pick 45 or through PSD we are not complaining in the slightest, I would be all for it.

Veszpremi - Is a young player with good speed over short distance and is quite hard at it but work needs to be done on his fitness however talent is there.

Sherman - 2009 he has over 500 disposals and kicked over 25?? We are reportedly giving up pick 29 for him and he is 23? Outside (we lack) He is a massive upgrade on Matt White and even Collins.

Houli - Knights and the other Essendon coaching staff are dead as door posts there are massive deficiencys in this guys game starting with his kicking, being crap under pressure and no left foot. He isn't quick he isn't a great mark doesn't have great hands. Spare me

i thought it was the dogs that said that they wont trade everitt either, i dont know the exact details there might some other things that might be exchanged between the 3 clubs i dont know its just a whisper doing the rounds early stages, heard from the same person that told me about N. Djekura it may be false who knows take it for what it is.

Dont forget carlton are trying for pick 14 of the crows same argument could be used by the dogs as well its 2 years in a row they have made a play for Everitt. So he must be good in there eyes after all he also played finals.

No one could be an upgrade on Andy Collins, but I agree with your plight.

Re: trade rumour/innuendo/fact/fiction KII

By God they are a funny lot over at the Blues board, Grigg walks out on them and he is a pea hearted money hungry squib. A bloke walks out on another club to go to Carlton and he is looked upon as a hero.

I really hope we don't trade too much. Only for something we need eg: a ruckman and a forward. None of this Sherman rubbish, ffs.

Or Grigg and Houli who are even worse.

Can trade week just come and go already so we can assess the damage? Very nervous. Hope Hardwick knows what he's doing, hasn't done much wrong so far though.

I just keep hearing good things about this draft re depth and the kids in it. Sounds like a lot of quality around. Would be shattered if we don't utilize as many picks as possible on kids and try to trade in more picks/pick upgrades for the players going out (Tambling, Thursfield, etc). That's what we did in the strong 2008 draft which I was livid with. Gave away picks for Thomson and Hislop which was stupid and we only picked up 2 18 year old's in Vickery/Post instead of as many as possible. Was a horrible draft that set us back a year or 2.

It'll be fine Barnzy. They know what they are doing. Trust me.
Would love to grab Sherman is we can trade for a 2nd round pick good enough. That's where Bling might come into play.
Otherwise spuds like Grigg can stay away unless they come for nothing in the PSD.

Proves stats can be very misleading.

Grigg is not a better kick than Cotchin or Deledio. Not in this world, not in any world. He's a butcher with no football smarts. All athlete.

There are 22 players on our list who recorded a better efficiency than that this year, including such brilliant kicks as Dean Polo, Angus Graham, and Luke McGuane. The DE% numbers are bullshit, we all know this.

I'm guessing you mean no right foot, as his preferred foot is actually his left.

The General has not taken it well.
For the last couple of years that moron has talked up Grigg as a superstar, but now he is nothing but a Greg Tivendale clone.

I really hate Carlton, I don't know why..... They get Judd for not much (no disrespect to Kennedy), pay him what is effectively outside the cap, talk up how good Grigg is, Jacobs is etc and then turn on them when they go and forget all the stuff they used to say....

Its like having a barny with a mate and he says "you're not coming to my party now". Absolute scum that lot...
