The age just reported that he has walked out on Carlton and has asked for a trade to us. Apparently they want willy t to be involved, if so we should get a pick with that trade.

Re: trade rumour/innuendo/fact/fiction KII

Proves stats can be very misleading.

Grigg is not a better kick than Cotchin or Deledio. Not in this world, not in any world. He's a butcher with no football smarts. All athlete.
Grigg may not look as good disposing of the ball as Cotchin or Deledio but the stats prove that he can hit a target more often than they do. Oh but I forgot Cotchin Connors and a few others whose DE% is way down have an excuse as they win a heap of contested ball and are always under pressure. Well lets see Grigg averaged around 20 disposals per game with 9 of those won in a constested situation and yet he had a better DE% and also averaged less turnovers per game than most of the blokes you rave about.

Sorry but if Hardwick and co are targetting the bloke they must have a valid reason, especially given their mantra of those with poor disposal won't be brought in.

Re: trade rumour/innuendo/fact/fiction KII

There are 22 players on our list who recorded a better efficiency than that this year, including such brilliant kicks as Dean Polo, Angus Graham, and Luke McGuane. The DE% numbers are bullshit, we all know this.
Yeah they are shit, I don't know why the combine now has 2 skill based exams where the kids are judged on how well they can hit a target under pressure.

I mean as long as players can sprint 20m in under 2.9secs, can run 3km in under 11mins, can push to a 14+ beep test result and can leap of tall buildings in a single bound who cares if they can't hit targets under pressure, I'm sure supporters will marvel and how well player X can run all day or show blinding pace when breaking away from a pack.

Give me a player with the ability to hit targets over a bloke who looks good kicking but can't hit a thing anyday.

Yea RT and the kicking and decision making test have proven that stats mean stuff all , as most of the higher regarded players haven't tested as well as expected , yet the poor kicks and decision makers have tested better than expected , and if you have ever seen it conducted you'd understand why !
Kicking effec means stuff all especially in sides like Carlton or Collingwood who like to kick to the boundary line and set up behind slow ball movement !
Even kick it to the boundary line McMahon looks a good kick and decision maker based on efficiencies !

Greg Denham reporting that Tambo is off to the Crows for their Bock compensation pick. Also reported that we've gone cold on Sherman due to his requested salary.

I don't see how this rant relates to my comment, but you've just described Grigg with the second paragraph. He can play, but his kicking is ordinary. He's got mongrel and a lot of athletic ability (as well as a good size), but when he's under pressure his kicking resembles the Shane Tuck kick and hope. It doesn't hit targets.

Is the Bock compo pick end of first round? That is shit if so cause it means pick 26. Not happy with that deal for Tambling.
It is the end of the first round, so 26 is the best we could get. Wouldn't think they'd trade pick 14 for him, so 26 is the best we could get.

Thanks copthat I did mean his right foot :p

Losing touch with reality fellas???? Grigg for Thursfield is more than a fair deal. They don't need to throw in any sweeteners. Also Swann just said "we were talking with him until 12 yesterday then he came and said I feel I can get better opportunities at Richmond" He is on our radar and we can expect him to be joining us. Go watch Richmond Vs Carlton rnd 17 or whatever you might see he is a player with potential.

im sorry if some body has posted this already

THE future of contracted Brisbane midfielder Justin Sherman hangs in the balance following a massive four-year $1.6 million offer from Sydney.

The offer is far in excess of what Richmond has put in front of the disenchanted Lions runner, who told the Tigers they were his preference and that he had no plans to live in Sydney.
Sherman, who was recruited from Tasmania, is also being wooed by the Western Bulldogs.
In the same management stable as Gary Ablett -- IMG's Liam Pickering -- Sherman's requirement to at least one of his Melbourne-based suitors is a three-year contract at $375,000 a season.
The Tigers are understood to have told Sherman's management to present something closer to $300,000.
Should Richmond walk away because of Sherman's high price tag, the Swans appear to have the front running even though the 23-year-old has told clubs he wants to relocate to Melbourne.

Brisbane is keen to trade out players for draft selections because of its bulging salary-cap problem over the next few years, and is understood to be open to a second-round national draft pick for Sherman.
Sherman has two years left on a heavily back-ended contract worth about $800,000 for 2011 and 2012 combined.
Like a number of his teammates, he played this year on greatly reduced money, mainly due to the need to restructure contracts to fit Brendan Fevola's huge salary into the Lions' cap.
And as reported exclusively in The Weekend Australian, Sherman's contracted teammate Mitch Clark is also seeking another club.
Clark, who has one more year to run on a heavily back-ended deal, is believed to want to be traded to Fremantle.
The East Fremantle recruit is understood to have sought to be traded home to Western Australia, otherwise threatening to leave at the end of 2011 to join Greater Western Sydney without any negotiable compensation to the Lions, other than a nominated AFL draft pick.
Without shedding players and rearranging current contracts, the Lions could be as much as $1m over next year's cap and in even deeper trouble the year after.
Brisbane, which has already significantly reduced next year's total player payments with the loss of Michael Rischitelli to the Gold Coast and the imminent defections of Jared Brennan and Sherman, may have to cut more players or their salaries because of its need for more cap relief.
Clark's Perth-based management has been in talks with the Dockers. Clark, 22, played 19 games this year for a total of 65 in his injury-interrupted five seasons.
Premiership player Ashley McGrath, 27, is another uncontracted player possibly on the move. McGrath, who played this season on a deal worth about $350,000, is being shopped around by his Melbourne-based agent Michael Quinlan.
The mass exodus from Brisbane will gain momentum in the next two weeks when Brennan and either his preferred destination, the Suns, or Carlton, satisfy Brisbane with a suitable trade of draft picks.

looks like i was on the money again. i suppose this article came out before posted it 2 or 3 weeks ago can you do the research for me PHX

we understood to be making enquiries on Mitch Carke as well now and Nathan Foley could be (im not to certain yet so dont bag me i like him as well just passing on from what im hearing) used as trade bait in next weeks trade period. i aslo heard this though year and brisbane was the club of his choice i didnt make much of it as i didnt give much credit to the person who told me, but i have heard it again last week that he might be put up to see what we might get for him, that does not mean we are going to trade him.

Interesting.... I love Foley but I fear he may become another Cogs (please no), no interest in Brisbane for Tambling as part of a deal?

Foley for me is not tradeable because we won't get his value.

HOWEVER, if he was used and say bling to secure Mitch Clarke I would sign straight away.....Clarke will be a superstar and already is a star!

CAN WE DROP THE E OF CLARK FFS.

Anyway as much as I do like Axel, on a needs basis you accept that trade as a fair one. Both players have had 1 standout season and had some serious injury issues. Thats the big ? over Mitch's head. Tambling for Clark and we would be laughed at amcre.

Amcre was suggesting Foley + Bling for Mitch Clark.

RICHARD Tambling has sparked interest at several clubs, with Adelaide making the early running before trade week kicks off on Tuesday.
It is understood Tambling, an unfulfilled talent at Richmond, was in Adelaide early this week visiting the Crows.
Tambling still has two years to run on a contract at Punt Rd, but both parties are considering an amicable split.
Richmond, which will not give up Tambling cheaply, is awaiting any offers that come its way during trade talks.
Tigers football manager Craig Cameron last night said he was aware of the interest from rival clubs.
"We'll wait and see what eventuates and what Adelaide comes to us with," Cameron said.
Tambling was a brilliant teenager, picked at No.4 in the 2004 national draft - famously one spot of ahead of Hawthorn superstar Lance Franklin

Despite his inconsistencies, Tambling has shown signs of being a devastating line-breaker and is a tantalising prospect for some clubs.
St Kilda may be one club that turns its attention to Tambling once its premiership battle with Collingwood is over.
The Saints went for Andrew Lovett last year and Tambling has similar electrifying pace.
He could blossom as an outside player in a side blessed with an array of contested ball specialists.
Tambling is still a chance to remain at Richmond, but he has tested the patience of both fans and the coaching staff.
At 24, he may be in need of a fresh start after 108 games in six seasons in an often struggling Tiger outfit.
The Crows, who have only been bit-part players at the trade table under coach Neil Craig, are likely to finalise a deal to snare Carlton ruckman Sam Jacobs and have been chasing fellow Blue, Andrew Walker.
Walker is believed to favour a move to the Dogs, but much work needs to be done to get a deal with the Blues over the line.

I wonder where this was printed before i posted it 3 weeks ago we want a top 20 pick for Tambling, the Dogs are keen but i personally have been waiting for the Saints to finish as i posted a couple of weeks ago the Saints have keen but have to trade up there 1st round pick into 20 or less or a player with there 1st pick, at the moment as i beleive the dogs are the front runner and will have to use everitt because they do not have many things to trade (hill and stack maybe for west coast 2 x 2nd picks), the Jacobs deal and the crows 1st pick will be interesting i have heard nothing on Grigg linking him to us but thats not to say he wont be but the suns have been talking to him for a while, wheather there well has dried up now might be the change of heart, personal his kicking skills need improving, i suppose if kings has then they can work with him as well.

Brisbane wont take Foley and Tambling for anyonye little own Mitch Clark as their salary cap wont permit it. They are looking to trade players out for picks for this reason. So you can forget Mitch Clark.

I wouldn't be surprised if we did trade out Foley. While he is a gun, in the long term it may be in our better interests to try and off load him for a top 20 pick. Maybe the Cats would be intersted for one of their compensation picks they will recieve for Ablett.
