Happy Foley is still with us.

Would've blown more than one gasket if we'd traded Tambo's pick for Houli

Wth do we do about Houli now? Can a player refuse to join the Suns? Seems like complete bullshit they can just force themselves upon people, we frown upon it when Collingwood players do it, but if it's the Suns it's alright?

Clayton just confirmed that if the Suns wanted to they could take the first 8 picks in the PSD if they wanted to, but look like using 1, which would make our PSD pick number 3.

are they restricted who they can take? as in can they take someone at pick 1 from a club they already have someone from? surely they could have pushed brennan there if thats the case.

They will have their eye set on someone.
West Coast won't risk taking Houli with pick 2.
I'd say it's pretty certain we'll take him with our pick.

wc have pick 1 we have pick 2 end of story
Ah no, GC can take up to 8 picks if they wanted to, confirmed by Scott Clayton, but he said they will probably only take the 1, which would be the first pick in the PSD.

I have heard all season long that GC don't take part in the PSD?

Also I'd take Houli with pick 46 or 47 which ever one we have in the national draft... or even a lower pick, leaving our PSD selection free just in case Cloke is available :p

That was also confirmed on SEN

And the Essendon recuiting bloke talking about Houli, said at the end of the day the Tiges were in control as they have the first "live pick" and will get him. And it was pointed out the Eagles wont be using theirs, so we have the first selection.

This talkt the gold coast getting the first 8 PSD picks is crazy- they were limited to one player from each club but this would effectively give them unlimited as they can force extras into the PSD and draft them there. are the AFL just making up rules as they go?

Gold coast could take up to 16 uncontracted players.

Clayton confirmed that by taking 8 uncontracted players they could still have 8 picks in the psd (consisting of uncontracted players), but will take 1 at the most.

we will have pick 2 or 3, depending on GC.

I think Clayton would know more than SEN on this.

exactly right. why didnt they just take a player from one club then force 15 more from same club in pre season draft with no compensation. makes absolutely no sense.

you would think it would have to come from the 8 clubs they havent picked a player from. so if we are after cloke then gc already have fraser.

Given the way clayton played out trade week I'd say he knows what rules they are playing under better than most.

As he said in the interview, they've been living these rules for 18 months and understand them to a tee.

even gc take 1 pick it will b after wc and rfc but they wont f _ _ _ all cash left on their s cap have spent nearly 5.5 mil on 8 players;)

I might be wrong on this, but the way I read it is they get 16 uncontracted, and have used 8 of them. Therefore, effectively they have 8 remaining - although they aren't PSD picks, they are just an opportunity to beat the PSD to the punch. Also, it isn't the same as having 8 picks either, because if they've already taken an uncontracted from one club, they can't do it again; so it's only for those clubs (like mine & yours I believe, and the Eagles too, yeah?) they haven't already raided. So effectively, you could say they have the first few picks because they could sign players before any of us can pick them up in the PSD. Make sense?

But, as I said, I could be wrong & wouldn't be surprised if the AFL had just quietly changed the rules again to give them yet another leg-up
