Yeah I hear you bro
The good teams will always attract quality
And the carlron will attract so so for more money
Sad but IMO true
You really don't ever concede a discussion do you? Haha.

Big no from me on Liam Jones. We've just got rid of a number of players that can't play football well, why would we replace them with the exact same thing?

With Carlton ranking dead last in tackles this year with an average per game of 62 (Melbourne 63), last again with disposals per game with an average of 341 per game, 5th worst in the comp for points against with a 96 average per game, it looks like we need a few more mids that are tough, have elite endurance and "WANT" to run both ways.

Cripps will be a welcome addition next year one hopes, but i think it will take more than just him. Tackles is probably the main reason why we are chasing Mitchell. The kid can tackle! I'm against giving up our first for him, but tackling more will reduce the average points against and keep us in games longer.

Is Jones even a KPP? I may of just seen him in bad games. But he doesn't play as tall as he is or have/use any strength. Would doubt he offers more than Watson.

Seems I may be the lucky one, most games have seen he's done well. The Footscray forward line is the biggest cluster**** since Dunkirk, and on the rare occasion he gets space, one out he's very good.

Hopefully we don't have the shittest midfield in the VFL so the KPPs developing (Giles, Watson, Jaksch and/or potentially Lever/Durdin) actually get a realistic chance to develop.

Fair point but it may force someone like Holman more time in the centre also.

Cachia is a big loss for the NB's as he was the big body required at times.

Disagree hes a gunston type. Jones is a genuine big. 193cm and 84ks (Gunston) compared to Jones (198cm and 100kgs). Jones is a great contested mark but is shite on the deck. He plays tall. He just needs help, which we didnt/couldnt give him.

Cripps (hopefully playing AFL) will hurt the NBs too.

How was he not getting a game through the 2nd half of the season? Was this an attitude thing, or just out of form?

Could we expect the older players McLean and Carrazzo to play more time in the VFL? That would help.

Some will drop down no doubt and either of the two boys you've mentioned are terrific for the young group when at this level.

Always feel that it's a hard balance to get the dedicated NB boys together.
You don't want them to be too good and suck development from the kids that need it and you don't want them to be so poor that they can't hit targets and be part of a chain of possession.

Fortunately though most of the boys we've recruited in the past 2 years are pretty strong of mind.

Got suspended for 2 weeks, played a shocker, got dropped and dropped his bundle. The club then decided to give Campbell and Redpath some games at the back end of the season. His VFL form was excellent though and McCartney definitely gave him some tough love.

If the Dees get pick 11 for Frawley, We could offer pick 6 for 11 & Jack Trengove (if as rumoured to be on the table are true). Only just turned 23, former pick 2 & captain. Has been injured this year, but has played 80 games over 5 seasons. We could then use pick 11 for Mitchell & maybe pick 38. This would sort out the mids, still leaving pick 26 for Jaksch. We can then try & upgrade picks 38 & 44 for mid-late 20 picks using Robbo, Lucas & Warnock. Thoughts?

I doubt it will change anything at all.
If we acquired Boyd & Jaksch then it just may.

Can't see Jones myself but can he play in the back-line?

Not sure he can play anywhere tbh... But if Mick wants him and see's something in him, then he could be anything.
He's a crash and bash type from what I know and have seen.
Could be potent in our forwardline taking the 3 best defender.
In Mick I trust. That is, if Mick actually wants him?

It's not a bad scenario. Still think 11 for Mitchell is a little too high, even if pick 38 comes back our way. I'm thinking he's around a 14-18 pick.
Will Trengove's foot come good?

Like the way you're thinking but can't see Dees giving up Jack so 'cheaply' - maybe if we give them Robbo as well… #11 for Mitchell could work but still bit overs on our part.

Club has been bullish about trades and one gets the feeling (Harks definitely does) that there may be a big surprise so I'm hoping we make a big splash… but without being stupid about it.

Will be an exciting month - and kinda sucks in a way I won't be experiencing it all day-to-day… maybe might prolong my life by a few years though haha #stress #falsehopes

Is there still a "mid first round" compensation bad?? I thought it was just 1st round (after your pick), end of first round, second round (after your pick) and so on??? Could be wrong of course. If so, a mid first round compensation pick is far more reasonable for Frawley than pick 3.
