No offense, but even the prospect of Garlett regaining form is worth more than those three. Really hope we don't clog up our list with players we could take for free down the track.

Really sad about this. More sad than I was about Betts leaving. Always loved little Jeffy, it's a shame that one poor year has come to this.

I'm also saddened by this, but in acting in this way we set the bar at a certain level for all behaviour onfield and off, and we're in the process of building a culture that we'll all be grateful for in 5 years. In saying that, I loved the excitement he generated and am sad to see him go

Agree 100%. IF we trade for a player you'd hope it would be a best 22 player rather than a potential DFA pick--up. Pick upgrade otherwise.

4 picks that early is huge. Can be the gap between the player you really need and someone who is talented but not optimum.

Garlett + #28 -> #23 might be worth considering, but if you're discounting a deal involving Blease, I'd prepare yourself.

True, but you'd think the player/his manager wouldn't announce it unless they'd been in talks with that club and the club seemed pretty keen to get them across.

And I can't see why the Dees wouldn't want him. They were into Dahlhaus apparently and Garlett is a similar sort of player.

i cant remember if he said he wouldn't play for melbourne or if he wouldn't leave Melbourne - he definitely said something though.
basically i interpret that as he wants to play for Carlton
