Carlton
INS: Jaksch, Whiley, Jones and Pick 19
OUT: Pick 7

WB
INS: Giles, Pick 4 and Pick 7
OUT: Griffin, Jones and Pick 27

GWS
INS: Griffin and Pick 27
OUT: Jaksch, Whiley, Giles, Pick 4 and Pick 19

Looks Fair. Win-Win-Win.

GWS might be paying overs but that's expected to get a superstar captain... Griffin.
GWS give up #4, #7 and #19 in this scenario plus three players for Griffin and #27. I'm not sure that's a win.

Not that i've seen much of him, but I don't think he's been as bad as what some Hawthorn supporters think.
And he might go ok at a different club when he's not the whipping boy.

Agree - was awful in the VFL Grand Final, but seems to be a confidence player. Was at his best when he had an extended run in the 1s.

I wouldn't mind if we tried to somehow get James Stewart to the club.

I've only seen him play a couple of games on TV, but while raw he seems to have all the attributes

What if GWS offer Picks 4 and 19 to the Dogs for Griffin? Does that mean we get Jaksch, Pick 22 and Whiley? Reckon we should leave it and make them have to add something better.
22 is going to patful. If they give 19 to the dogs they better come up with a best 22 player for us.

Jaksch , Sumner & pick 19 and I'd do it. Meaning picks 12, 10 &19 for pick 7. Blues win. As has been pointed out on other forums , Sumner would cover some damage from the loss of Jeffy Garlettt. Still bleeding
The Whiely option would be ok too , but we have similar moulds at the Club.

Who the hell is Mark Whiley? Right now he is the infomercial steak knives and we are the bored lonely housewife that's been convinced we need

Hope this post backfires in and the kid comes good. But any poster on here who talks with any degree of certainty he will improve our best 22 is talking out of their backsides. Less than 1% on here would watch the NEAFL

Carltons Top 5 Greatest Players
1. John Nicholls
2. Stephen Kernahan
3. Bruce Doull
4. Alex Jesaulenko
5. Mark Whiley

...some people on here are going to look like real gooses when this happens.

So you are posting from London?

Who the hell is Mark Whiley? Serious students of the game, of which there are a few on here, know who Whiley is. We also know that while the NEAFL does not directly equate to the SANFL or the VFL, it is not as far behind as many would have us believe. So many casual observers who "like to hear their own voices" can be found on here denigrating more enlightened posters, and indeed industry professionals. It is not a precise science, human foibles enter the equation. If it were precise science and junior or past performances were bankable, we would not be discussing Garlett leaving for peanuts.

Before accusing people of talking out of their backsides, consider the quality of highly touted household names (for the casual footy observer)of recent times, Jack Watts, Gumbleton, Daw, Tambling, Butcher, on GWS what about million dollar Scully who realistically, despite injury, is not necessarily in their top 6 mids. Some great stories there;)

Whiley is not a guaranteed star, but without one iota of improvement vies for a spot in our midfield. For reasons quoted earlier there is some cause to hope for, even expect more upside. (Any club would salivate at the chance to get Treloar, Shiel, Ward, Coniglio, Whitfield, Kelly and others keeping Whiley out of the team). Whiley has comparable real (performance) currency to O'Rourke traded today for #19. Don't underestimate the internal pressure at GWS to play/nurture the high draft picks to vindicate the performance of SOS and co. The Whiley's taken for nondescript picks or zone allocations exert less pressure, so accordingly their development is not regarded as pressing (see Miles, and the impact of Tyson at his new club)

We are talking of brokering a deal which has some attraction for both sides. Both parties need some comfort from the arrangement, our professionals, while no doubt posturing for the best deal they can, consider the talents of Whiley well worth consideration. Clearly we rate Jaksch even higher than the #13 or #14 publically stated by Rogers. Posters criticising his "honesty" maybe should consider that we consider him top 5 as was suggested from his draft year. It is therefore in our interest to reach a suitable deal. If Jaksch is "top 5", #19 and Whiley or anyone else becomes cream on top of the deal.

Lets see how it plays out people..............no guarantees, but on this one I need to trust our professionals

Sorry for the intrusion guy but really think that Carlton way too eager to "Buy" Jacksh and kind of reminds me a little like the Hampson trade last year where we had made up our minds and were going to get him and paid overs.

O'Rourke was a #2 and went to the hawks for #19 a 17 place downgrade on his draft position
Jacksh was #12 & #28 alone should be reasonable market value for him, perhaps he is worth a little more maybe around #21/#22 but giving up a prized pick #7 no matter what comes back is a big price to pay. Pick #19 is a good pick but doesnt really get you the Elite type of player #7 will

Another thing to consider is that Jacksh really only had 2 maybe 3 suitors StKilda,Doggies,Blues and he has selected the Blues but I dont really see Stkilda bending over backwards to get him specially with their high 2nd round selection which looks to be about his value & The Doggies that are Desperate for talls should be itching to get Jacksh involved in the Griffen deal if he was a great KPP surely they could have him with #4+#19+Jacksh which is pretty much the same outcome for GWS

Regarding Whiley,I know that Miles has worked out well for the tigers but have you guys noticed that there really isnt many clubs after him and he is after all just a Rookie selection from a diluted draft that hasnt really shown much at AFL Level -He is as another poster mentioned a #60-#80 type selection and shouldn't be looked at as much of an incentive to get the deal over the line.

#28 or walk away should be the line of thinking from Carlton

I don't get what you are trying to say here? The kid is good? He didn't games because he wasn't a top pick? I'll admit I'm part of the 99% who haven't seen him play in the NEAFL, but I found it incredibly amusing that he was never mentioned in any trade targets posts before his name gets mentioned today. So these informed posters were just keeping their cards close to their chests right? Same goes for Tutt, how many people on here would have been watching Footscray in the VFL saying 'gee I hope we land this Tutt guy, he'll really improve our best 22'

We wont know until draft day when we see who slips to #19 if this deal is overs or not. Right now its 2 young guys with 12 games between them at a young start up side and moving down 12 spots in the draft, and our success with those picks around the 12-25 mark in the past has left a lot to be desired!

Lol at us suggesting that we rated Jaksch at number 5. Is that seriously what we've said?

If true it would prove just how bad our recruiters really are. Basically they're saying that they rated him ahead of Whitfield, Macrae, Stringer and Ollie Wines. WTF?
I think they rated him 5th best of the kpp in that draft.............something along those lines anyway.

Yeah I don't think you can believe recruiters when they say we rated him in such and such spot. They always talk up their selections saying they got massive wins. Jaksch definitely wasn't a top 5 talent that year, but is/was most likely still going to become a quality player at AFL level.
I remember in the 2012 draft that the talk had been that Carlton were looking at taking Jaksch at our pick 11, but when they heard that Menzel might slide through to us the talk about Jaksch stopped.

I think McKay is playing this trade period brilliantly. If GWS believes they will nail Griff with #4 and #7, they'll give us overs for our #7. I think that's why the trade might not get done until early next week. We are in a good position.
Yep...for a change we are now in the box seat with our pick 7 and should try and take GWS to the cleaners like they were trying to do with us over Jaksch. Now that Griffen has asked for a transfer it puts GWS in a different position because they need us to help them !!! We need a good result in this trade because we were bent over and had our dacks dropped in the deal with the Dees on the Jeffy trade!!! Carlton may as well have just given him away for the little they got back....hope they do not cave in and get nothing for Lucas and Robbo and perhaps Warnock, because we still have to fill their positions on the list. no good just getting a whole lot of late picks to grab guys that will probably not be on the list in 2 years time !!! I think that trading Lucas for that Freo ruckman Clarke could be a possibility, as Freo seem to want to get rid of him and they still need to add outside mids with pace to their team as far as I can tell .....don`t know if they would do it but Clarke does kick goals up forward when resting, unlike Warnock who never converts even when he does take a rare mark up forward..........just an idea that`s all. Clarke is from Victoria and I did read where they were keen to trade him. o_O

What is going in with Sydney not allowed to trade now.

AFL have gone mad.
they seem to be just doing things to show that they are "THE BOSSES". they found nothing wrong with the deal for buddy back then, so why drop this now when teams might have had deals lined up with the Swans to trade for players and or picks !!!they are penalising the other teams as well with this decision. too many rules at the last minute these days and most of them SUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
