Hmmm. Possibly.

It is not fair to make Jones particularly sweat. Tutt was always going to be a late pick.

That's an Everitt like deal right there.

#19, #28, Jones, #61, Tutt or
#19, #37, #46, #61, #65, Jones, Tutt

Would we trade #46 and #37 for #28? Maybe not.

I am interested in who might slide to #28 but having #19 makes this deal more palatable. I'd do that deal I think.

If we could offload Robbo and #37 to move back up a few spots, even better.

Good post ODN, I agree.

Could we get Robbo to the Cows and upgrade to #31?

It was a big thing for Jones to up and leave, choose us and agree to terms.
Baulking for #28 is fine. Baulking on more reasonable deals is not.
It is hanging him out to dry and is a bad look when attracting players down the track.

Given that transparency is a key issue to us, I can't see us walking away from a player just to play tough.

Jones & Tutt would understand that they're not worth #19 or even #28.
No problem but it may leave a sour taste should a pick downgrade along with the #46 be knocked back.

Anyway, 48 minutes to find out.

Or West Coast #32. Wouldn't give #65 and Lucas to go up 3 spots late in the second round though.

#46 and Lucas for #32? Eagles have looked at him. We can't do it until the Dogs blink though. No point securing #32 or #34 and then giving it up for Jones.

I think we'd pass on 65 if we have 19, 28, 46 and 61. WCE or Freo are more likely to use it and it'd be more a goodwill gesture of finding Kane a new club than let him languish another 12 months at the Northern Blues.

Anyway, I'm just thinking of a marginal trade to clear a spot off our list - where it's rumoured we'll otherwise delist Ellard or Mclean to free up a pick.

I'm of the opinion that we lack outside mids and Lucas would be decent injury depth for that year.

I keep hearing the doggies are playing hard ball on Jones so why don't we simply say OK, walk away and offer 46 to GWS for Frost?
Jones can always be aquired in the PSD

That's a good point, and we have seen glimpses of good Kane over the past couple of years.
Wouldn't have a problem at all if we hung onto him.

I think WB might be of the opinion they can convince Liam to stay now McCartney is gone and they have acquired Boyd.

Just Tutt for 65 and 79 - final offer. :p
No. With the pick they got for Cooney, they simply are not going to use Pick 46. There is no point for them accepting this. Hence, all they would be thinking is, either we get something we can use or screw you Carlton, pick him up in the PSD and risk someone else picking him up

Don't rate Lucas, scared of opposition players who might make high contact with him and doesn't put his head over it when they are around, doesn't go when it's his turn, terrible tackler and an ordinary kick. Isn't a great competitor. Can't see him doing much in finals when things are fierce and tough. You can't just receive. Good reason he struggled to get a game with us despite being fit and us having injuries and why clubs don't seem too interested in him. He doesn't have anything special in his game that makes up for his glaring deficiencies. Would rather we retain Robinson who at least has some real positives to his game such as his ability to mark, attack the ball, tackle, compete fiercely, kick the odd goal, get it a fair bit and play both forward and back. It would be fair to argue that Robbo's good outweighs his bad which is his kicking, ball handling and on/off field discipline. Best to replace them with a draft pick or a young player wanting to come to us who has skill and an appetite to compete.

Hope the dogs pull their heads in, they are about to lose a player for nothing, pick 46 is a lot better than nothing. Any news on any possible Sydney players we might be courting?

This influx of 18-23 year olds is exciting, all of a sudden we will have players coming through. The big dollars we'll have in the bank are going to make things really interesting next year!
