Battled gallantly against Geelong? Geelong were playing Tom Stewart and Blicavs in the ruck against Hayes.

And we still got absolutely smashed in clearances against Geelong. And against Geelong we played an extra player at the contest, while the Cats played an extra in defence.

The problem with Hayes is he might get 10 hit-outs to advantage in a game, but we those would be the only clearances we'd win.

I've said it before but for some reason our fanbase completely ignores the defensive side of rucking. Hayes conceded more hitouts to advantage than he won in all matches except against Bailey Williams, Stef Martin and Andrew Phillips.

If we play Hayes against Blicavs he cannot be conceding more HTA than he wins. Just unacceptable for someone whose supposed strength is his tapwork/ruckwork.

Id much rather keep Duursma and offer up just picks for Pickett. Assuming Dunkley doesn't pick us, id do 8 & Amon Comp (19) for Pickett, ideally with a second round pick coming back however id forgo the second coming back in negotiations.

Thats more than i suggested earlier, but Melb wont let Pickett go cheaply.

Try keep next years first should JHF request a trade.

I feel like that post and obviously our fans under rate Duursma. That's a pretty reasonable deal, probably a bit skewed in Melbs favour if anything IMO. Duursma will come on next year, I'm sure of that.
Skewed in Melbourne's favour? Are you drunk?

Under rating Duursma in this deal?

Kossie Pickett has just come off a 41.18 season, as an opportunist small forward. And he kicked 40 last season. Thats two of his three seasons in the AFL.

Half the posters here have spent the season cumming buckets Bruce Macavaney style over Todd Marshall who kicked 45.15. Over 40 for the first time in his 6 year career.

And people think Duursma (who just spent a year struggling to impose himself in the SANFL) + a second round pick for Pickett is skewed in Melbourne's favour?

I saw that tweet earlier in the day and it was duursma and a future first, which I thought was what people were discussing. Duursma plus a second is a no brainer, but him and our future first? That’s a lot.

For a still under contract Pickett? It would be at least a top 5 pick or two late firsts to pry him out of the Demons. If we traded Duursma we'd be looking at a second round pick for him. So Duursma and a future first is still probably unders for Pickett this year.

Out of contract, thats a different matter.

Duursma is the most overrated player on this board. Even when he was 'good', he wasn't that good.
His running used to be utterly elite.

You don't notch up a top 10 distance covered in your 2nd game if you've got nothing special fitness wise.

It's like we've cut him off at the knees to turn him into something that he's not.

I still think we are still in with a shot on Dunkley bit if he goes to Brisbane we should be on the phone to Bailey.
Hell even if he doesn't we should of already made that call.

Anybody saying a straight swap of Frederick for Rioli is fair sounds even more ridiculous than Eagles supporters claiming pick 20 for Rioli is fair.

I agree, ridiculous.

One is a mid twenty something premiership player and the other is a fringe player.

Yeah, sounds like a good deal for West Coast!

I don’t agree with the Duursma hate. He came pretty close to Rozee’s output in their first year. He’s got good footy in him.

That being said, pickett is worth a lot more in a trade.

Tbh Melbourne would be within their rights to ask for Butters. Pickett is younger and has kicked 40 goals two years in a row. I wouldn’t do the trade though
