I don't particularly rate Pickett as high as most so agree with you on that one, but weren't you all in on trading 8 and more for Dunkley?
Not more, but I would have traded pick 8 for Dunkley. Midfielder vs small forward.

Adam Tomlinson is very gettable but I've never really seen him as KPD . Thoughts?

Ha ha Rucci:
“It’ll be interesting when Josh Dunkley speaks as to how he chose between Brisbane and Port.

“It seems Brisbane is not just better for him football-wise but for his family.

He literally came out "last week" and said his decision was around family and not just money/football, and AFTER that, you came out and saif you were 95%, etc.

I literally do not believe a word Rucci says and as others have stated, if his opinions weren't posted on this board I'd legit forget the clown existed. He's a shocker.

Not gonna say “missing link”, but a high end small forward like Pickett is exactly what we need. Clever, quick, genuine goalsneak, can kick a bag, hard tackler. If hes a 40 goal a year forward in our colours then you give up pick 8 for that every day of the week.

I dont think we’ll get him out of melbourne this year though

My take is we need to do the work this year to make sure he knows he has a home next year and basically not to sign.

Oh wait, it's Rucci? nvrmnd

Imagine if in your job you got something important so completely wrong as Rucci got his reporting on Dunkley, and then you just get to go back the next day and act like nothing happened.

Remember that time back under Chocos era where he cracked the shits on radio because Port had given a scoopp to the footy show and not him.

Being out of contract isn't going to lower his value given he is no where near reaching free agency.

Kid has kicked at least 40 goals in each of the last 2 seasons. Only 21 years old. Likely going to further improve so you risk not giving up pick 8 and change now only to be giving up potentially more in 12 months time.

Whilst the Melbourne media are certain he will stay at the Dees in 2023, i wouldn't be so sure. If he wasn't such a non-confrontational kid he would have requested a trade at his exit meeting recently - he is definitely coming back to South Australia eventually to continue his career. That being said, it only takes one serious discussion with his manager, and his manager can make the call for him and get the trade request sorted on his behalf anyway.
Kicking 40 goals a year playing as a small forward for Melbourne is a lot easier than kicking 40 playing for the Donut King.

He's had a lot of experience.

So brissy will need salary, list and draft/trade capital.

Apart from Robertson and Smith, is there anyone else we could shake loose?

Ah Chee? Fullarton? Answerth? Sharp?

And are we still linked to McKenna?
Robertson and Sharpe would be perfect; alas, no go home factor for SA.
Vis country boys are worth a look:
Mathieson from Geelong is slow but has a hard body.
It would also be worth asking about Thomas Berry, younger brother of Jarrod.

The Lions were very slow playing too many forwards, so a key forward could be up for grabs
