Not gonna say “missing link”, but a high end small forward like Pickett is exactly what we need. Clever, quick, genuine goalsneak, can kick a bag, hard tackler. If hes a 40 goal a year forward in our colours then you give up pick 8 for that every day of the week.

I dont think we’ll get him out of melbourne this year though
There’s zero chance he kicks 40 goals for us under Hinkley tho.

20-33 would be my guess.

But agree small forward is a massive need

He’s quality

He’s young enough to be around with our core

I don’t expect it this year tho. Reckon next year.

Pick 8 doesn’t have to actually want to come here.
He has no choice well at least for a couple of years.
Anyone thinking your guaranteed a quality player at pick 8 is dreaming.
Even last years I couldn’t believe he was still there at our pick looks bog average and that’s only when he’s playing.
It’s a raffle you could get a Paddy Dow at pick 3 or a Robbie Gray at pick 55.

It’s really not a raffle…

Get him at the feet of Charlie with all of Charlies dropped marks, Pickett should kick 80

Dixon arrived due to a relationship with Hinkley
Ryder left his club in the midst of the drug scandal.
Rockliff was not wanted by his club and had a partner with SA connections
White was not wanted nor was Watts,
we got Watts for a pick in the 30s
My point is we don’t get players who have options.
So know I am not wrong

Aliir?

In regards to JHF. A family friend was in his company on Friday night. Should he come back to Adelaide, which is highly possible it will be to Port. Does not like the Crom. Very close to immediate family apparently. Time will tell, but my source of information is sound.

I won’t be upset if he stays at North. Apart from being hyped as a number 1 pick, he’s been miles off showing it on the field.

Our coaches tactics are straight from Div 7 ammos’s. Kick it loooong. I’d say he’d be ever chance to kick 40 plus given the chances a genuine small forward would get with our set up.

In theory,

But there’s problems with that theory

When he’s roving off dropped marks now, there’s actual space to move as it’s far less congested. Melbs forward entries are far less predictable.

We pack a tonne of players into our forward half. There’s bulk numbers at the drop of the ball. Teams know we are kicking it to Charlie, and they’re there.

None of that means don’t bring Pickett in, or that he isn’t the best possible chance we have of getting a high end small forward, it’s just tempering expectations to reality.

In any case, one more year of Hinkley is the hope and we start anew, Pickett the s young enough to still have his prime ahead of him when that happens

Has anyone actually watched Melbourne play ? , there forward entries are identical to ours and there key forward is ben Brown.

Its not like we have ever struggled to get f50 entries

We were the only one who asked for him under contract.

Sydney enquired if he was interested in exploring it while contracted and it was done quickly between the two clubs.

He was a pre-agent, so i’d be staggered if we were the only club sounding him out.

Made two prelims in a row and should've made two grand finals as well but our recruiting is sh*t?

Hinkley must've been a super coach then to make two prelims with such a sh*t list.
Spot on: I expect we will play finals next year.

This year we were leading in the first game but then sustained six major injuries.
Where Robbie, Rozee & McKenzie were hurt; Aliir required surgery, X played hurt the next week and then took a long, long time to get his confidence back.
For the entire year, players like Lycett, Sin, Fanta & Charlie struggled to get on the park.

Round One Injury list
Aliir Aliir – ankle (5-6 weeks)
Tom Clurey – knee (3-4 weeks)
Charlie Dixon – ankle (2-3 weeks)
Xavier Duursma – shoulder (assess)
Orazio Fantasia – knee (6-8 weeks)
Robbie Gray – knee (assess)
Kane Farrell – knee (3-4 weeks)
Trent McKenzie – knee (assess)

They’re not remotely. They play on the mcg, which is quite wide and spacious in the f50, their forwards are predominantly lead and mark guys when they can. They don’t flood numbers like Hinkley does.

Weather it was last year's Granny or a SF Kozzie was in defence throwing his weight around and sheesh not only was he menacing he looked

like he enjoyed hurting people. Probably in his DNA. He was hoovering up possessions on the HB line setting up forward thrusts and looking the business.

Smart predator errrr I mean player.

Imagine if in your job you got something important so completely wrong as Rucci got his reporting on Dunkley, and then you just get to go back the next day and act like nothing happened.

Rooch to CD: So what are the chances Dunkley chooses Port?

CD: We're always hopeful, Michelangelo

Rooch on SEN: They're supremely confident of getting Dunkley to Alberton
