Exactly. We have cap space, no one wants to come here. So instead of trying to convince an elite to get here draft one
You’re paying say 500 a year for 2 years for a Maggie’s player and an elite junior. How is that even possible? We’d be crazy not to do it.

Say that again.
GC are offering pick 7 if someone takes old mate off their hands? I don’t even know who he is and I’m in. If we’ve got room in our cap like they say we do we should go for it.
They will obviously want something back but the motivation is to get the cash out.

It’s a really interesting position for GC as they have 3 2nd rounders in this years draft also plus the pick they’ll get from Adelaide for Rankine.

Very unlikely they go to the draft with 5, 7, 25, 31, 34 and will want to cash some of this in for future draft assets.

Having back to back top 10 picks in any draft is worth pursuing. Not sure how we do it though without giving up our future first, which given the talk about next years draft crop would be risky.

We’d be betting on ourselves to bounce back to a finals team at least.

“Teams will also be able to package early picks with big salaries to help them unload such funds, like last year when Gold Coast Suns moved Will Brodie to Fremantle along with Pick 19.”

IfvAmon compo is start of Round 2, what is the points difference between that and picks 25+34?

Article is Vic-centic as usual, but Bowes is a Cairns native, so perhaps like Dixon he could be lured here...

We are cashed up, worth is for pick seven; Gold Coast are flush with picks and may add the Crows pick five (or next year's first rounder).
I can but dream what a wondeful world if we could get two picks in the top ten

Listening to Cal Twomey on SEN, it sounds like minimal draft capital would go back to GCS. So it would essentially be Bowes + Pick 7, for us to take on the heavily back-ended two years of his deal.
Given we have the Dunkley space, surely they have to be looking at this. Even if we had to trade back some picks. The opportunity gained by losing out on Dunkley was that we could take pick 8 to the draft, so to then be able to turn the salary cap space into Bowes + Pick 7 would be great business.

Get Busslinger and Phillipou. If you manage to keep the Amon compo and can grab someone like Hayes, you'd be laughing.

I cant see it being true but shit it would be funny.

The Crows pay pick 5 to take 650k off of their hands..

We receive pick 7 to do the same.

I agree but we just never seem to be the ones to benefit from deals like this. May also be seen as a salary cap problem for us if we want to lure Pickett and JHF to the club and retain our young stars in the future.

Only 2 years. We obviously don't know the exact dollars, but not like its a Grundy level deal.
Definitely worth looking at.

If we have the space this year re work the contract so the bulk is paid in year 1.

True, but could also give us the capital to be able to get one out of there club.
Cant see his wage breaking the bank. Maybe 500k

I don't think we're interested in Bowes and he probably wouldn't want to come here but a deal like Bowes + 7 for Bonner + Amon compo is something I'd be keen to do.

Or Bowes + 25, 31,34 for Bonner + Amon compo (27 likely).

Unlocks the Rioli trade (even though I think he's worth somewhere in 40s). If we give up Hayes then there's another late 2nd/early 3rd pick. Then you have a strong draft hand that you can do a lot with

Umm, you know how much I hate to be that guy, but doesn’t this tell you that Gold Coast thinks the draft is shit at Pick 7? If they are willing to trade it out for nothing more than cap relief in return?

If the reporting is correct that Suns will attach pick 7 with him, we should 100% be looking at it.

GOLD Coast is set to dangle pick No.7 as the draft sweetener for clubs vying to take on Jack Bowes and the two remaining years on his contract.
They would want something back for this in next year's draft as they need the draft points. This is because they have a top player in their academy who is expected to go pick 1 - 2 in the draft.

I would consider trading next year's future for the suns current pick 7 & Bowes (Def / Mid)

The added bonus of this is to force the cows to use their pick 5 in this draft for Rankine (& not use a low pick this year+ their future first & 2nd next year which would allow them to use pick 5 on Phillipou)

Why give up Bonner?

I don’t think the draft will be crap at pick 7, maybe it weakens after pick 12, but there’s still value at pick 7.

Nah it would be Busslinger plus Pou/Humphrey.

We do this deal at a million miles an hour.

It's like someone trying to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge and actually selling you the Brooklyn Bridge.
