Why are so many people happy to trade futures
Look at our hand this year the cupboard is bare
Bloody hell

As I said before we go from first round to leftovers.
Its like other teams have a list of preferred players.
We go into the draft wanting player x and will give away picks just to get that player.

Pickett or JHF or go to the draft.

Or that dude who comes with pick 7.
Pickett has gone home to WA for the off-season.

With his uncle now working in Kalgoorlie; he does not have much of a SA connection.
Beware the WA clubs coming hard for him next year.

His father is comedian Kevin Kropinyeri - I'm not sure where he lives these days given he would tour around a lot for his work, but he grew up in Murray Bridge.

We are well stocked for players that can play wing, but not players that play it well.

Bowes would be great in my view, we've already seen from Brodie that GC don't know how to develop their players properly and focus too much on their negatives. Bowes is your typical outside accumulator who can hurt offensively - no worse than our current wing options and he could come with pick 7 if we find the money for him. Even if it's only a second rounder I'd say Yes please.
If we could convince him to come here then year it would be good but there will be strong interest from the Vic clubs and Adelaide will be able to use it for there Rankine trade if he was going to come to SA.

Seems stupid that gold coast will insist on pick 5 for rankine then package up pick 7 out with Bowes. Like you say, the crows could trade in both for a 2 pick downgrade. Hopefully they no longer have the cap space. I'd be all in in bowes and pick 7 depending on what it costs. Surely it must be for a future first or it makes no sense at all. But then again it is the gold coast - they exist to make Victorian clubs stronger

Hopefully, the Rankine trade will clobber the Crows salary cap.

The Suns believe they have enough early picks and are in a different economy to everyone else; securing top 10 picks also comes with the downside of having to pay those players up to $450,000 in their third and fourth-seasons regardless of their early progress. Soon thay will have to fork out big bucks for King, Rowell and Anderson.

Gold Coast are well over their salary cap this year so must realign their total player payment position for future years.
Not only will Bowes give the Suns cap relief, he is desperate to play midfield at a new club.
Keeping him against his will and playing him in a position he isn’t interested in doesn’t really suit anyone.
So pick seven is the prize for whoever has the room in their Cap for a large back ended contract.

Our slight hope is big Charlie & Bowes shares Cairns as their home town.

Gold coast losing Rankine you would think would help there salary cap issues... 🤔🤷‍♀️

In terms of what they had to offer him to stay, yes, but they've had to overpay players to stay for a while already (hence the Will Brodie trade last year) - they must be in deep sh1t again if this pick 7 thing is for real.

When it comes to us nothing is for free.
We are more likely to give them pick 8 back plus next years 2nd round.
Thats genuinely not what the article said though that started this

The cost is the inflated salary
