JHF has to be out number 1 priority trade capital wise.
Conor and Zakk will need some extra cash put aside and JHF chew up some cash if we were to land him.
But if Collingwood pay some of Grundy's wage and are keen to get him off the books because Cameron has been super impressive it's a no brainer as long as the 3 above are taken care of.

Grundy is 29 at the start of next season. Not in our demographic IMO.
Could be right I just checked his age lol probably has 5 yrs left right on the edge I reckon.
Definitely depends on cost of wage and trade capital.

The core of our squad is being built from the 2016 draft on.

2016 - Marshall, SPP, Drew
2017 - Farrell
2018 - Rozee, Butters, Duursma
2019 - Bergman, Georgiades

All of these guys are 24 and under and have shown enough to suggest they can be 200 gamers.

Then you have Burton and Houston who are slightly older but are still more or less in this category.

All recruits should fit into this bracket. No more short term sugar hits. Build a strong and deep squad.

Charlie Ballard and Harry Petty are 2 who we should be putting work into.

Petty already signed an extension last year and with May hitting 31 before the start of next season he'll have a position locked for the future in what looks like could be a dynasty team.

Could a deal like that see Hayes go back the other way too?
I'm guessing the point from Collingwood's perspective would be to free up Darcy Cameron (who has been excellent since Grundy's injury) for more gametime, so probably not.

Wouldn't want to pay full price for Grundy in picks or salary but if it was a Treloar type deal, f*** it, why not. If for no other reason than to see Powerade 08's reaction.

You’re right about a few things but it’s incredibly optimistic to call melb a dynasty team.

Gawn is their centrepiece and he’s literally got minutes left of his career imo. He’s a 108kg 31yr old ruck.

Once he goes they’ll lose their key weapon.

May too is at the end. Petty is a nice piece but he’s no weapon, and with may gone levers effectiveness is cut in half. Remember lever at melb before May came?

Then they don’t have a kf line whatsoever once those guys go shortly.

Oliver and petracca are awesome players, but they can’t carry that team themselves.

Lol. Could probably get their actual ruck division (Cameron + Cox) for the same $$$/draft picks.

That would be why I didn't explicitly say they are a dynasty-tier team.

Hayes isnt gonna be given a chance while hinkley is here.

*I think Hayes is a great talent. Don't want to lose him... But I think he is gone.
Hinkley has one year left on his contract. If the rest of the list management team see Hayes's value we should be keeping him. The only way Hayes should be off the list is if he (understandably) demands a trade.

I’ll be a monkeys uncle if a 29yr old ruck whose game depends on running power and leap has 5 more years left.
Your Probably right but Collingwood obviously thought so has 5yrs left on his deal. Paddy Ryder is also 34 and has been far less durable than Grundy.

Grundy has underperformed since signing his deal. That he has 5 years left is a just testament to Collingwood's poor list management than an indication he will be a dominant ruck until he's 33.

They each have one year left. Who will outlast whom?

I didn't say go hard after him but for the right price would have to consider it.
