The trouble is Ford:-Not one like that. C4 told us yesterday about player managers hunting bigger deals for their clients even if they are contracted. And weeks before that he told us how this was going to play out.
Follow the money.
1. C4 obviously has inside knowledge, and could therefore be saying what the club wants us to hear, sometimes at least.
2. An aspect I disliked about the Wingard trade was that our club/coaches were unable to work with a "different" individual. So they took the easy way out and moved him on. Is that the case here?
3. Kinkles crapped on about the club "wrapping its arms around him". I am assuming that Dougal didn't feel the love and then, like you and I, he looked out for himself.
4. Could this just be the club looking around for an individual to play his part in improving our trading position, like last year? It worked, well, and hopefully it does again here. But the player himself may not be happy about it, hence wanting a better deal. Which came first, Dougal getting the feeling/knowledge that he was out the door, or Dougal being mercenary? We won't know, and I doubt C4 knows.
I believe there are internal ructions in the club, including players. Koch told the players immediately after the last game that Ken would be the coach in 2020, a strange thing to do to me unless Ken wasn't everyone's flavour. This Dougal trade is very possibly some unrest playing out.
It isn't just "follow the money", though you are far more likely to be in the know than me.
