Thomas has elite skills and real football smarts. Lucas doesn't. Still have not seen anything to suggest he will ever be an AFL level player, let alone a gun.
Still have not seen anything? He's shown heaps in some of his games. Still have not seen the consistency or hardness required to succeed.

Yeah I saw his smarts in the GWS game that got him dropped for the rest of the year. Too much Hollywood about him and not enough desperation. We had one of the most shocking years with injury this year and especially missing 2 of our best mids for a lot of the year, he still could not break into the side.

Maybe a trade will be best for him.

Logic tells me there is no way we will keep Megan AND Knockers. MM only plays one ruck and a pinch hitter. We were doing it due to necessity at the end of the year, and it worked well. Much prefer to see a full time forward that can pinch hit, rather than a half-assed forward that is a ruckman (who only plays 15% in the ruck).

Both have excellent value. I wonder what GWS or GCS would offer for a ready made ruck option? They are so stacked with young talent, I feel we could get a top 10 pick, or a player plus a pick or two. Maybe even a player and pick upgrade. I am fairly sure I prefer Warnock, as he is a far superior ruck, but Hampson does have that upside we keep hearing about. With both fit, Warnock is our best ruck. Hampson offers god knows what.

Gone: Bower, Thornton, Kerr, Davies, probably Russell, Joseph (even if contracted, he needs to be traded for a low pick or delisted), Carter, Bray, Lodge, O'keefe, Heyne, Dale (could easily be retained, but who knows? Did like his two sub appearances)

Tradable: Lucas, Warnock/ Hampson, Joseph (I would take a 5th rounder...seriously), White, Ellard (he may push for a move to try get regular game time), Curnow, Watson (may ask to get traded?), McCarthy, Collins

Untouchables: Henderson (VC?), Murphy (C), Gibbs, Judd, Kreuzer, Betts, Robinson, Yarran, Garlett, Duigan, Jamison, Armfield, Mclean, Carazzo, Tuohy,Waite, Walker, Simpson, Scotland, Casboult, Mitchell, Bell, Watson, Rowe, Bootsma, Buckley, Laidler, Mcinnes

I know footy is now a business and all that shite, but delisting Sam Rowe or not re-rookie ing him would be the ONE thing that'd cause me to seriously think about not renewing my membership

He will 100% be at the club next year so nothing to worry about.

I can understand if the club put him on the rookie list for a year though while he gets back to 100%, if he remains on the main list then good for him and I can't to see him run out in the Navy Blue for his first game.

Would love to see O'Keeffe given a real crack, 3-5 games in a row, a la McLean. Can't expect someone to get 15 minutes here, dropped best in VFL, promoted-sub, dropped and then 1 full game in a dead rubber. Plenty should go before ROK, however I feel he is in danger.

My sentiments exactly!!!!

Surely he has to be given a proper crack?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!?!?!?!

I'll be so upset if he gets cut.

I don't even want to talk about the possibility of Scotland being asked to retire. I'm just going to try and be happy that we at least know that Brocky isn't going anywhere.

Other than ROK, I don't have too much of a problem with the other names being thrown around as possible candidates for delisting. Not that you ever want anyone to get cut, but someone has to go I guess. It'll be hard to see Rusty go if he gets delisted.

I think Bower, Davies, Thornton and Kerr will be delisted. Russell is a likely RFA to another team unless the new coach desperately wants him and Warnock is a chance to be traded. Tuohy, Curnow and Casboult should get upgraded to the senior list as well.

Not quite sure why people are retiring Scotland and trading Lucas?

Does O'Keeffe have another year on the rookie list? If not, he'll probably be unlucky. If he does, Heyne will most likely get the chop.

Depending on whether we draft three or four players, one of Collins, Joseph and Ellard may be delisted too. Probably the unlucky one who is out of contract.

Regarding Sam Rowe, he was drafted in the ND and is guaranteed a two year contract.

Well considering he is a free agent we could get him without having to trade.

I see what you are saying but how many times since Goddard was drafted have we heard the rumour linking him to Carlton? I Think (not 100% where i heard it) there was even a time when Osullivan was supposed to talk him out of coming to Carlton.
St.Kilda, Richmond and Collingwood would both be interested in Tradeing for Warnock, could be even more than the 3 clubs i mentioned interested where we to put one of our Ruckmen up for Trade..MM wont let a player like Duigan go, very similar player to Maxwell so cant see him going anywhere

Candidates for either one of warnock/ hampson: GWS, GCS, st kilda, Melbourne, port adelaide, collingwood- so much currency. A ready-made ruck will be worth their weight in gold. We will not be interested in playing two rucksack, therefore we should consider cashing in. A top ten pick or a very good midfielder should be the bare minimum. We could package useful depth like Ellard, Thornton, russell to get a decent pick and player.

Duigan will go nowhere. I believe scotty will be the same. Will get one year deals.

I heard that Rumour last week, the rumour i heard was Warnock for Goddard, as soon as i heard Goddards name mentioned i knew it wasnt true..

I'll throw this trade up Jordan russel for Chris knights
Knights is a decent player on the outer at adelaide and same goes for JR could be a win win for both teams I see knights as a damaging half forward who can slot a goal on the run from 55 with ease and can run thru the guts if need be.
Discuss??

That leads to the question of "what is the likelyhood of a trade on a player who can walk anyway under free agency?"

And will we see NBA style sign and trades in the AFL now?

Signing then trading free agents so the parent club isnt left with nothing.

Would've thought they are after a senior ruck to take the load off smith?

Caddy is going to Victoria. Would think they don't need mid first picks from Geelong, one would think.
People keep pointing to them having Smith and Gorringe for rucks but I also think they could do with another ruck given the injuries those two are getting but that trade is just too one sided for them even consider. Caddy is far more talented than either Warnock or Hampson let alone downgrading their pick.

Warnock/hampson for caddy and swap of second round picks?

They'd be crazy to do that. They could get more for Caddy than a ruckman like Warnock or Hampson and a downgrade of their second round picks.

We would need to work Lucas into a deal with GC for Caddy whilst offloading either Warnock or Hampson to GWS for perhaps a second rounder.

Both fair enough points. I agree with most
Of it. Don't think theyd be interested in Lucas though. They would be more interested in senior players. Maybe ruck plus (sign and trade) russell and a pick?

I think they would deal their lower picks. Apart from the creme de le creme picks, they have no spacer
For lower picks. Their lists are just too talented, and won't be able to keep everyone happy
Re playing time/ salary in 3-4 years. They need a bunch of 3-4 year players, I feel.
