* the need for a certificate. You've got sick leave, you should use it for whatever ails you.
Exactly

What makes it so frustrating is beyond the whole pointlessness of it is that there’s a bunch of solutions just sitting there and they make them harder to use.

Why bother getting certificates in the first place. You only have a certain amount of paid leave anyway?

All it does is clog up general practices with people who don’t need to be there.

And then theres Telehealth. Once again change is foisted upon those that reject it by unexpected circumstances and they reject it wholeheartedly. It could easily streamline the whole process but instead of utilising it they place a prohibitive cost on it. So it costs me nothing to walk into my gp but a 10min phone call costs me $74?

And then there’s chemists. We make it another avenue to get sick certs and make it easier on people and lighten the light on gps.. but they make it cost prohibitive and you can only get 1 day off requiring you to be Nostradamus.

It’s just so unnecessarily dumb

I had a telehealth appointment.. got a bill a weak later for $74 or what ever it was... Ya can stick that up ya ass...

All I wanted was a new script for the crap I've been on for years...

Mrs is quite often "dirty you need to go to the doctors"

Me "**** that... Useless lazy pricks...don't have a clue anyways.... The only people who get sick are the ones who go to the docs"

just go for the finger up the arse, its nice

Doctors not backdating things like that is stupid too.

This is why you see a proper GP and don’t just go to bulk-billed med cert mills. My GP will backdate and forward-date anything within reason.

Imagine going through medical school and then just working in one of those drop-in places which literally exist for free sickies and nothing else (by policy they don’t prescribe any good drugs). These people may be doctors but they’re more pitiable to me than 60 year olds who work in call centres.

A proper GP? Sounds like being back to needing to wait at least a week for an appointment.

I do love reading about Philthy's Misadventures. That guy just cant seem to catch a break.

Philthy is Big Footy's Frank Grimes.

My mum is practice manager at a country medical centre. They have always found it difficult to get doctors to permanently move to regional areas. One couple they had were really good, had both been there a decent length of time and were going to be offered a stake in the practice. Quite the lucrative agreement. Instead they up sticks at short notice (at the insistence of one of them) and went and opened a clinic in Munno Para to do exactly what you describe. They'll both retire with full pockets having most likely never helped anyone along the way in their roles as doctors.

I'm all for climate activism but doing it by pissing people off on their way to work just makes you look like a dick and undermines the cause. Go protest outside AGL or Adani headquarters or something

Bizarrely there was a protest in Perth today against the US Supreme Court decision on Roe vs Wade. I recommend they don't go there and they won't have a problem.

Imagine: you’ve moved in with your partner. They’re making coffee in the morning while you’re taking a dump in the perspex shitting cube in the middle of your kitchen.

Because there is no water barrier between the shower and the toilet you’re trying desperately to salvage some individual sheets from the sodden papier-mâché lump that used to be your toilet paper roll.

My partner and I shared a flat in London for 12 months which was so close to that it wasn't funny. Our bed was on a mezzanine and we did actually have a door to the bathroom. But not much else to raise it above this. 250 squid for the privilege.

I remember staying in a fancy loft accommodation thing while on holiday and yeah it was a nice room, but the bathroom/toilet was seperated from the room with a 5 foot high wall, completely open above that.

Excuse me love, can you just get out of bed and go downstairs so I can take a dump before I crop dust the room?

So dumb.

As if any of the worlds elite that actually benefit from ignoring climate change are sitting on that freeway, or in any remote way inconvenienced by a traffic jam.

Hell, Rupert Murdoch probably sells more adds every time some idiot makes news cause of a stunt like this.

Short sighted single brain celled morons.

The phrase "perspex shitting cube" is certainly one I'll have rattling about in my head for a while.
