Not denying that any of those players are good (for what it's worth, I think Cunnington will be a star), but you can't compare 2012 stats from those of a decade ago. The game has changed so much since then that the stats (particuarly disposal numbers) are almost irrelevent.

You could do the same thing with Cheynee Stiller's stats at the same age. If you don't know who Cheynee Stiller is, that proves my point. And feel free to have a look at Justin Westhoff @ 21 versus Drew Petrie @ 21: http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/...53&type=A&fid1=P&fopt1=2007&fid2=P&fopt2=2003

Plenty of players start slowly and then turn into stars. Plenty of players start quickly and then stagnate. It's anyone's guess whether the above three will turn into stars (Atley will, Ziebell probably will, Cunnington probably won't IMO), but those stats prove nothing.

Alex Johnson was high on Collingwood, Brissie and the doggies radar as well. Had a couple of meetings pre draft and Alex was pretty sure the pies would take him.

I wish Melbourme got him, very impressive in TAC, captain of oakleigh chargers. The kid played mostly as a forward except during the carnival where he played as a back. . He kicked a few bags of 6 and 7 so if Sydney find themselves short of a tall fwd, I'm sure Johnson would relish the chance.

Tom McDonald for Melbourne doesn't get much attention (but did end up coming 6th in the rising star. He was taken about 5-10 picks before Alex Johnson if I remember correctly.

Jodie McKenzie is another Melbourne guy that isn't highly rated but his defensive work is very very imprssive considering his age and size.
