Not well explained, but it's a good sign for Dems, since the majority of independents will vote for Dems. It was predicted that the Republicans needed a 3-3.5 point lead on party affiliation of the Dems, but have less than 2.

Was going to say. I wonder how many Republican's might vote Dem as they're fed up with what's become of their party? I have a few colleagues here who are card-carrying Republicans but are embarrassed with what's happened in the past eight to ten years. Being in NY, they're vote doesn't carry any weight so they're not voting but I wonder how much, if at all, that mentality has made its way into others minds.
